Early in Coronation Street, Archie Street in Salford was seen in the opening and closing credits. It was apparently demolished in 1971 but apparently the church at the end of the street still stands, is this the building that was supposedlt the mission in the early closing credits?

I expect Elsie will know!

And in the 60's episode when Stan took everyone on a drive in the Rolls Royce, what real street was Coronation Street as the characters came out of what was supposedly the Rovers?

Any other buildings been used in the show?

Since the titles were filmed on Archie Street, I would assume that St Clement's Church (or at least part of it) did appear in the closing credits.

Take a look at these.

As for Stan and the Rolls Royce...I don't have a clue!

I wnat to get to as many Corrie locations, Granada, Museum of Science in a day, it'll be a long day! It takes me 4 hours each way, I wish I lived closer too i'd spend every spare minute down at Granada! I'll try and take some pics and post them for you Elsie! Even though Archie Street is no longer there I want to see where it was and see if the church was the original exterior shot of the mission, it's nearish to Salford Quays so i'll pop down there too and see if I can see the locations down there too!

Oh me too! Did you know you can view the set from the Science and Industry Museum next door, you get a great view and may even see some filming, it says you are not allowed to take photos but I took loads, but I wasnt going all that way and not take any!

Anyway I was wondering does anyone know the exact location where Richard Hillman drove into the canal?

And where in Canal street did Todd and Karl kiss?

No more location questions after this, I promise

Victoria Road - location of Audrey's house in Grasmere Drive (which we will be seeing shortly I assume with the Fred storyline)

Take a look at this web link for St Clemnts Church which was at the end of Archie Street. Isnt this the church they still use on occassions?
There is an Archie Street in Salford Quays near the Fatty Arbuckle restaurant but that article said it is a a different street which I suspected as it is completely derelict with only a sports hall.

Also take a look at this as it shows the location of the new streets that replaced it: Buckfield and St Clements:m http://www.multimap.com/map/places.c...ckfield+avenue

Thanks Elsie, this day is going to be longer than I anticipated! Audrey's house now. I'm going to be dotting round Manchester like a blue arsed fly.

Have a look at Places on corrie.net as it gives the real life location of places like Audreys house.
With regard to Stan Ogedn driving on the street it could have been on the first outdoor set that was built in the late 60s. This was built beside a real railway bridge- the site is now part of Granada Studios and the viaduct was part of the Liverpool railway station. When I was there last year they were usuing one of the arches of this viaduct for Ian Davenports car showroom.

Another place you may consider (although a bit morbid!) is the Manchester General Cemetery. This was used reguarly from 1964 for Martha Longhurst's funeral until at least the mid-1980s...perhaps even still today.

There will obviously be no graves there but it doesn't stop a person from thinking!

Take a look at t'map!

I don't ever remember seeing that episode. Is it in the 60s boxset?

I would say that it was filmed on Archie Street. Have a look at these 1960s end credits and compare the Rovers on there to the photograph.

Yes, it's on the boxset, No. 5 on the 1964 set, it's the scene just before 'end of part one' and has some funny Benny Hill type music on!

Mike Baldwin, he must have been visiting!

Not even been yet. I am going to the studios in May and will have a little wonder round see what locations I can find. The bridge Claire and Casey were on on Friday is just across the road from the studios!

Glad you had a good time and saw the street!
