I just created a sipgate account and I'm about to purchase the 1000 minutes for £5.90 package.

I have previously used Skype and then switced the Gizmo. I changed to sipgate because I don't have a landline socket in the house at all.

My question is, is it possible to run sipgate just through my cable modem using a VOIP phone adapter box with a regular wireless DECT phone plugged into it? I pretty much want sipgate to act as a regular landline service (i.e always on to send/receive calls including while the PC is off.)

Do all brands of VOIP phone adapters work with sipgate? I really want to get away from the softphone option and get some proper convenient/away from PC VOIP going.

Any recommendations regarding VOIP phone adapters?

Any info would be much appreciated.

Just to reiterate previous posts. Both Sipura (owned by Linksys) and Linksys ATA's will do the job nicely. My own set up is that I have Sipgate on one line and SipDiscount on the other. I use Sipgate for incoming calls (totally free) and SipDiscount for outgoing calls. SipDiscount costs me 10 euros every 4 months.
I have a two twin DECT phones that utilise the ATA.

I have Sipgate and VoIPStunt on a Linksys PAP2 ATA connected to my router over cable broadband, using DECT cordless and corded phones, each output has a REN of 5 and I don't have a standard landline.

ive downloaded sipgate x-lite and want to use with my usb phone, but the phone doesnt ring tried everything, but also want an 01 number but have an 0845, but it wont let me credit my account!

also aparantly ive opted for sipgate 1000 even tho i cant credit it, but want to change tariff, but wont let me.

right ive credited my account, i still have the 0845 number which i would really like a local code (perhaps if i switched aol off and just went through IE?) but how do i get my voip usb to ring?

Right, an AOL user, hadn't realised you had AOL and therefore only offered 0845, to get an 01 or 02 number you need a UK IP address, being on AOL you are issued with a USA or recently a few people get a French IP address.

You need to log onto Sipgate website using a UK IP address, so you will need to either dial-up using an old non-AOL dial up account or pop onto a friends internet connection who isn't on AOL, then just select change number and select an area-code of your choice.

Alternatively you could use a proxy server.
