The Royal is returning on Sunday 17th September. Yay!

There will also be a new doctor arriving to replace Dr. Weatherill.

Yes I think we still see her until she has the baby. Shame really as she's my fave character. I found it really annoying how they split the series in two.

I heard that this may b the last series but I don't know if that is actually true.

ITV need to keep their long running shows going, they're the only decent stuff they've really got. Also, it does better in the ratings than the Bill and Heartbeat so why would they axe it? In the Scarborough evening news they had pics of the filming and the producer denied the rumours, although I am worried!

Heartbeat definately needs to be axed! It has been going on too long and the stories are becoming repetitive!

I seriously love this show, and am so excited the second half of the series is now to air. It's odd, even though I was born in the 70's , it still manages to make be all nostalgic and wish for a happier, simpler time. Oh gawd, that sounds terribly old !

PS> Still can't forgive them for killing off Meryl though

He's not leaving for good. He actually filmed his scenes as Mark Redman in Corrie during his break from The Royal. They did a cast photo that was shown in a TV mag at the start of the last series. Meryl was in it and so was the African doctor.

Yes, it's not the same without Meryl, Mr Middedictch and Mr Harper. The fact they all left at the same time made it worse!

She had her baby in real life - a girl, May - in November 2005! I remember reading she said after she gave birth on screen she was still pregnant in real life, which shows how long ago the 'new series' was filmed.

Paul Fox will leave to go to Africa in the episodes we're about to see, but as I said in a different post, he was only taking a break and he filmed his Corrie scenes which we saw in about March, during this break, so as they're filming another series now, he'll probably be back for that.

It certainly explains something that baffled me. I remember reading Jeff was going to Africa and I was waiting for it to happen in the last series we saw, so I now know why he didn't!

He's already done that, reprising his role briefly. He was only ever gonna turn up briefly just before Mike died, which of course he did in April. He won't be going back now, he has no reason to.

I saw the baby a few weeks ago when I was in Scarnborough and saw filming all week. They had their children at filming on one of the days and the baby wouldnt stop crying so someone had to take her on a walk round the block, saw little Betsy too! The cast all stay in a hotel all week so they must make a little holiday out of it when they are not on set!
