Sipgate 1000

Hi

Ive got £14 credit on sipgate, but somehow ive chosen sipgate 1000, so ive got 1000 mins a month but it does roll over.

If i cancel this way, will this cancel my account fullstop or just put me on pay as you go?

I'd say you will probably go on pay as you talk, but I have to admit I'm a bit bamboozled why you ask on here for an answer that isn't definite when you could just email Sipgate yourself? Although it is a Sunday, I'd say you'll have an answer within 24 hours directly from them, I have received emails from them on a Sunday before.

well i sent an email to them direct yesterday and got no answer, and thought that there may be a slim chance that someone has been on it or is on it

You probably won't get a reply in that case until some point tomorrow - there's sometimes someone in the office on a weekend, looks like not this weekend though. They are quick to reply on working days though. I've always been on the standard service though since it's such good value, never used the service you're on.

I'd suggest look for a UK based web proxy, there's lots out there, and you can change your number that way. Just another reason why I don't like AOL

It's a redirection service that allows the remote site to 'think' you're somewhere that you are not. Problem is AOL uses American IP addresses, which Sipgate reject.

I haven't been able to find one though this morning that 1) has a UK IP address, 2) will allow a secure login (which you need to change number), and 3) works!

So because of all this, I'll offer something I wouldn't normally do. If you change your password on your account for a temporary one (in other words not your permanent one so I don't know it), then private message me with your user name and the new password you've chosen, and tell me what area code you'd like to be in, I'll change your number for you now.

Once I've changed your number I'll PM you back, don't forget to change your password again so I don't have it, and you might want to delete your call lists so I can't see what numbers you've called / have called you for your peace of mind (I'm very security conscious which is why I say all this).

Good point didn't think of that, you can either amend them then change them back after I've finished or wait to use another computer then, up to you.

Yes, you could use a proxy, but like above finding a UK one that works is difficult.

I have changed peoples number and have issued numbers for others in the past, I get them to / or I set up the address as a bogus one such as an address in SW1A 1AA.

Having never used the 1000 service or even credited my Sipgate account in the few years I've had it, I'm not sure what the options look like once you have activated it, I would have thought however there should be an option to de-activate Sipgate 1000, this would only de-activate the 1000 option and not the actual account, I would have thought.

It just means you wont be charged for them agian next time. I think the minutes will stay there until the monthly billing day arrives.

Your account will remain active

Ah, so they offer an auto top up service!

I've not used sipgate for chargeable calls for a long time, there are better services available
