Apple Ipod earphones

Hey, I have had my ipod for just under a year now, and my earphones are bugging me.

at first they were great and the sound was amazing, but for some reason the left ear 1 started making crackling noises when the volume was at full blast, i could live with this as i normally only use in 1 ear, but now the right ear 1 has gone the same way, and i now have to use them at a lower ear volume, anything anyone can suggest to fix, or what other earphones are around to get the best volume out of my ipod

Cheers

Hi, I've had same problem. It's due to the quality of the earphones, since they are included with the iPod they are manufactured very cheaply. Inside the earphone there is a sound driver if you turn the volume up too high or play music with alot of bass in it then the driver will eventually move out of place and start to vibrate.

You can contact Apple and they will send you out another pair free of charge if your iPod is still under warrenty, or else you can buy a pair yourself which will last longer.

I couldn't get my iPod earphones to stay in my ears, so I bought a pair of lightweight Sennheiser phones (with a headband) to replace them. The sound quality is fantastic.

I have had the same problem too.

I've been through three pairs of earphones (replaced each time by Apple), and the current pair have lasted the longest (since just before Christmas).

I think my warranty is up at the stroke of midnight tonight (11th September), and the earbuds do sometimes crackle.

I would like it if they were available cheaply, so that I could replace them with a similar pair, but iirc they are as overpriced as the rest of Apple's accessories.
Shame really.

Hehe I know.
They work fine most of the time though and I don't mind a bit of interference.

Besides, I looked into it a couple of months ago and they seem to now have a system in place where you have to send the old pair back to get new ones.

I never had to do that before, they just sent the new ones for free and nothing more was said!

Needless to say, I couldn't be arsed.

PS, happy first birthday to my iPod!!

The supplied Apple headphones are rubbish. Note to new iPod buyer: just chuck them away and get some decent ones. Note to Apple: either knock a few quid off purchase price and don't provide headphones, or supply decent headphones!

They are designed to be useless, so you upgrade and buy their better, move expensive version,

As others have said, the supplied Apple earphones are very basic and give poor sound quality. Upgrade to a decent set.

If you normally only listen with one earpiece, you should consider getting a single earpiece wired to a stereo plug so that both channels are played through the single earpiece.

If they are not easily available, it would be quite easy to modify a stereo pair.

I have had two Ipods and I have used a pair of Sony earphones that cost under a tenner. I found that the apple earphones that I got where very tinny and distorted when I had the volume past half way.

Your saying that the included iPod earphones are bad, they are pretty good quality compared to the ones that come with other brands of player.
