Anyone know a make of CDR thats compatably with the sony DAV-S300 system? All CDRWs seem to work, so I need a make of CDR with silvery bottoms, not green, gold or blue.

Cheers

I'm not sure, but I think Kodak make CD-R's with silver bottoms.

There`s a company called De-boerder that make silver cdr`s, i`m interested in your comments that cdrw`s work in the sony davs300 , is this correct ?
Another thing worth remembering is this , i used to have a samsung 709 , this machine was NOT compatible with cdr or cdrw and refused to play any , untill i bought some samsung cdr`s , out of curiosity i tried one and voila , bloody well played it . I can only assume that there`s something in the route directory of the cd that provides recognition to the player .

Yeh, philips CDRWs play fine. From what I've read it's all about the wavelength of the laser. From what I understand CDRW's usually work as they are usually more silver coloured, like origianal cd's or dvds. However cdrs are usually gold or blue. However some cd's are supposed to be silvery, I've tried the kodak ones but they don't play, I've also tried sony ones, (blue bottom) with no luck.

Is there any chance of replacing the laser in the Sony DAVS 300 to one that reads CD-r's. I am quite willing to do this, but has anyone tried?

Cheers

I've been able to play 74min cd-rws on my davs-300 but not 80min cd-rws.

I've never got any cd-rs to work on it.
