I'm not sure if this can be done, but our puppy chewed my internet cable which slots into the back of my PC in my bedroom yesterday morning. Does anyone know if this cable (which is now in two pieces) can be put together again using some kind of connector?
We could replace the cable which comes directly from our phone line, but this would mean putting up all the floor boards from my room to downstairs which would probably cost us more money as a result. So we're looking for an easy solution if poss.

I think it is beyond repair. but you can pick modem cables up in PC World or Curry's even Tesco's sell them. they only cost a few quid.

We have NTL Broadband and my PC in my room is connected via the main phone line which is downstairs.
I think we would need to get someone in professionally to fit a new cable. We are hoping to save all this from getting done, we could repair the cable instead. I will ask around a few electricians, but I think you're right this is now beyond repair

I think it's an ethernet cable. It is fixed to the main phone line which is downstairs and the other end of the line plugs into my PC in a phone socket at the back of it.
I've just phoned a local phone cable engineer who will call out later this morning to have a look at it. Fingers crossed he can fix it.

The cable could just be replaced (it's worth less than £5) - but you're now going to pay a lot more than that for the engineer's time.

Thankfully, the engineer has come out and inspected the chewed cable and has fitted a junction box on the wall next to my PC and has re-fitted the cable from this to the back of my PC and I'm now back online. It cost me just £30 so not to bad at all and saves us getting someone in to bring up the floor boards to re-fit or replace the whole cable from the phone line
