Hi there, I'm wondering if there are any music (for this quesion, mainly CD) collectors who may be able to help.

I have a copy of the Michael Jackson Collectors Edition Dangerous CD which has never been opened and I bought with my pocket money when I was about 10 or 11.

I'm not necessarily looking to sell it, but wanted to get an idea of the current value, so popped over to ebay and saw that the few which were on there all claimed to be first pressings.

So, my questions:

does anyone know how I can find out if mine is a first pressing?
does it really make any difference?
are most "first pressings" on ebay genuine, or is it just something that people claim cos it's so hard to prove otherwise?

Hope you can help

Paul

First pressing is, I believe, like first editions for books - basically the first batch made. There were 70,000 made in the first pressing for this CD. The first pressing is the pop-up version.

It seems to be estimated at around £28, from what I can find.

Thanks! I guessed it was the equivalent to first editions for books.

As far as I'm aware, all editions (ie not just first) for this item should be the pop-up variety as this is what made it a collectors item. Perhaps there was only ONE pressing? I remember buying it within the first week of its release, but still unsure of how to find it if it's a first pressing or not.

Where did you find out about the 70,000??

I did a google search, and found several sources (some reliable, some not so much) saying the same thing.

Yeah - i did a search as well, but they were all by people/co's selling them ... and that's what made me be a little doubting.

Oh well, thanks for your help. It was just a point of curiousity more than anything else.
