Finally cracked it guys the homehub can go in the bin now

been trying for weeks to use my 3com Office Connect modem/router and my Linksys PAP2 ATA in place of the hub.

tried all sorts of combonations of different log in details and until tonight was unsuccessful.

have now cracked the details to use a ATA in place of the hub.

visit the w*wbt.com/bbv configure page and when the configure window open right click the config tab and select open in a new window and all the info sent to the hub inc passwords will be displayed in the web address bar (where you normally type in www.) its long so highlight and copy to word doc.

it will look like this:

Password=T.4KB********************
&EncryptionPW=*******
&MGCP=www.bbvservice-5601x.bt.com
&SIPTransportProtocol=UDP&SIPTransportPort=5060
&SIPRegistrarAddress=btsip.bt.com
&SIPRegistrarPort=5060
&SIPOutboundProxyAddress=sip.btsip.bt.net
&SIPOutboundProxyPort=5060
&SIPProxyAddress=btsip.bt.com
&SIPProxyPort=5060
&SIPPhoneNumber1=44560*******
&SIPCallerName1=&SIPUsername1=44560*******@btsip.bt.com
&SIPPassword1=********KB1XQJU
&SIPPhoneNumber2=
&SIPCallerName2=
&SIPUsername2=
&SIPPassword2=
&hash=f5365c06816483c39f640434466b1598
&SIPHashB=2a2b69b074e2adcf1d435524c12a018c
&SIPHashC=923eb9f23e1e324c7d3936589d51a90b&SIPHashD=c8589ba5d5f65f42f8e822e83ad90690
&SIPHash=b765101d4b1622f09084330da523aa7a

these are the settings for the ATA

Line 1 tab:

NAT Settings:

NAT Mapping Enable: Yes

SIP Settings:

SIP Port: 5060
EXT SIP Port: 5060

Proxy and Registration:

Proxy: btsip.bt.com
Use Outbound Proxy: Yes
Outbound Proxy: sip.btsip.bt.net

Subscriber Information:

User ID: 445601xxxxxx (this is your talk tel no)
Password: Here your put your "sip password 1" from the info above

tested and working perfect only thing thats not the same is when i dial out on the broadband line i dont hear the higher pitched dial tone like the hub but i've yet found where to adjust the pitch !

so maybe your thinking its only using the normal tel line ? i did so rang my mobile and hey up came the broadband tel number as a missed call

i hate being beat but this one nearly did

now fire up your ata's and bt talk ! nearly forgot the call quality is better than when the bt freestyle was connected to the hub.

N.B where i have put ***** above its my log in details your settings page will have all your details for use

nearly forgot when you log in to your ata you'll need yo go to advanced settings as basic you cant see all the config options.

if when you have config all the above and find you dont have a ring tone when someone call your Broadband tel no:

log into your pap2

go to
admin login => regional (must be in advanced view) => (see left pane title letter and roll down to) ring call and call waiting tone spec => ( see right pane) ring waveform => ( click pull down menu) select trapezoid. now save settings and ring your broadband number.

the hub did all this for you and the pap just needed telling what to do.

only thing your missing is when before when someone called you your hub rang both normal and B.Band phones (if you had it set this way) the ata pap2 only works on your broadband line obviously, so if you want calls on te b.band phone tell all your friends the number.

regards

ps i hope this is useful as i wanted to dump the hub but until i had the talk working i was trapped and stuck with it.

By dial-tone you mean the tone you hear when you pick up the phone to make the call?

If yes........

The usual UK Dial Tone is: 350@-19,440@-22;10(*/0/1+2)
Found in the regional tab, if you want to increase the pitch increase the numbers highlighted in bold, for example set to: 450@-19,540@-22;10(*/0/1+2).

My current settings for the regional tab are:

350@-13,440@-16;60(*/0/1+2)

Hypnotist - *THANKS*

I had everything right except NAT Mapping Enable set to "yes" - which seems to be what makes all the difference. And thanks too for the tip about Ring Waveform set to Trapezoid - I had no ringtone either to start with.

Like you, I can now eliminate the extremely nasty Home Hub from my enquiries - i prefer my Belkin!

Regards - Babytalk

hi babytalk

glad your sorted, mind you after nearly 2 weeks trying to get it configured i nearly gave up, but i thought no if the hub can log in it must be possible for to pap to do likewise.

but the pap2 and your router gives far better receive quality sound from your caller ! it doesn't suffer like the hub being quiet on the ear piece.

regards

How easy is it to unlock a PAP 2?

Bought one from Ebay and it turns out it's locked to Vonage.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you...

Also found this.

Same info, just looks a little less daunting!

We'll see how it goes.
