I had heard of her but I had never knowingly heard her music before today.

I bought her second CD from 1999 called "When the pawn...." from my local Oxfam shop for £2 and I have just given it a spin.

It sounds OK on first listen but I'm not too sure. Maybe it will grow on me or maybe it will be back on Oxfam's shelves or on ebay next week.

She seems a bit weird and screwed up according to her Wikipedia entry.

Any fans or haters out there?

Fan but only because she has the longest album title in music charts history:

When the Pawn Hits the Conflicts He Thinks like a King
What He Knows Throws the Blows When He Goes to the Fight
And He'll Win the Whole Thing 'Fore He Enters the Ring
There's No Body to Batter When Your Mind Is Your Might
So When You Go Solo, You Hold Your Own Hand
And Remember That Depth Is the Greatest of Heights
And If You Know Where You Stand, Then You Know Where to Land
And If You Fall It Won't Matter, Cuz You'll Know That You're Right-

i've got her first two albums which are great and really grow on you the more you listen to them.. got some live stuff of her's too and she is great there as well.. second album has alot of very unusual instruments and sounds and stuff which just adds to the appeal

not sure if it's just me but i find her pretty sexy too

she had a new album out last year which i've heard a few songs from and will buy when it comes down in price.. did the typical record company trick of releasing a special edition with DVD a few weeks later which I hate

check out her cover of Bill Wither's Use Me Up.. great song
