Changing Landline Provider Help
I am intrested in changing my telephone provider from bt to tiscali .
The questions I have are: 1.I am already on tiscali unlimited 2mb bb so would I pay for both line rental and broadband at the same time each month? 2.After I switch do I have to select a tiscali talk plan or can I just pay for line rental and calls made each month? 3.If I switch and I have already paid for line rental for the next 3 months with BT do I get the unused line rental Ive paid for refunded? |

I'd advise against moving your landline from BT because only BT has to allow access to CPS and prefix-dial providers for cheap calls.
Instead, make sure you're on BT Together Option 1 and paying by DD (£11/month) and then check HERE for how to save yourself money on calls. I always check what the cost of my wife calling her sister in Spain would be (she spends an hour or so a week on the phone to her) as a 'guide' of if a provider is cheap of otherwise. Tiscali is OTHERWISE! Using the prefix-dial company www.18185.co.uk, I pay 1p/minute (at any time on any day) for those calls. On their normal package, Tiscali charge 17.6p/minute peak and 7.2p off peak. Even on one of their special (extra subscription charge) packages, they charge 4p/.minute. TT line rental is same as BT but they will be chargeing for paper billing £1 a month, and they charge extra £1.50p a month for caller display ,where as BT does not charge for either of these items. When you say you get all your calls free surely you pay for this, how much does it cost you?.Combineing BT Line rental with the most appropriate CPS calling package will no doubt reduce your charges. |

we don't pay line rental to BT at all Free calls means not paying for them, paying £5, 8, £10 per month on top of line rental is not free, you are paying for inclusive calls. Primus Saver 2 gives you free calls, because you pay them nothing per month and you get free calls, that is free, the moment you have to pay to get the calls, then it's not free. Therefore you must be paying more than £9.50 per month for your phone service. |

I would not recommend Tiscali. I had nothing but trouble from them. Reports I hear demonstrate that nothing has changed in the 5 years I have been happily Tiscali free.

I got everything back with BT now and have been that way almost since end of Jan. Im on BT Together option 1 and BT Total Broadband option 2 and I get free evening and weekend landline calls for up to an hour per call though the BT Broadand Talk service. we dont pay line rental to BT at all If I'm right, the line rental is the same price as BT (25p more than BT from January) and £8.99* is paid for 'free' calls regardless of whether you make them or not. *£8.99 would pay for 300 UK 01/02 calls of unlimited duration using 1899. |
