I am not sure I like the idea of the men competing one week and the women the next. Do you think this is only going to be for the first two weeks or carry on until there are about 6 or 8 couples left?

as far as I can see its just week one and 2, but as for that format i can see it taking away the boredom and longevity of 14 couples dancing altenate of two dances

I'm wondering how long the contestants will last. That's 12 weeks of competition, plus the training beforehand. It will be the last man/woman standing

Yes I think it may be down to which couple has the most stamina, at the end of the series. I remember Anton & Brendan on ITT last year talking about how exhausting it was for those still left in competition. This year it's going to be even worse.

It's going to be mentally and physically exhausting, the quality of dancing could get worse towards the final. Especially during the weeks with 2 dances.

Yeah i'm not too keen on the new format, but if its only for the first two weeks that should be kool. Cant wait to see Karen dancing again so i'm happy that its the boys first

I think it makes perfect sense to have this format.
The gentlemen have to take the lead hence it is more difficult for them. I feel that the format should be throughout the series as the competion favours ladies, hence a winner from each gender.

Thats true, thats why the gentlemen shouldn't go out first week, its would be fairer the other way round

Agreed, although last year the women were voted out first, so maybe that's the reason behind it.

That would make sense as last year most of the women went out pretty early (not all of them were bad). It would stop the show being one sided.
Also if the judges keep pushing forward the fact that it's harder for the men then why not stop putting the men and women in a same competition

KarenRox - I just meant that it was the women that all seemed to go in the first couple of weeks, of course anyone could have gone.

I don't think it matters who the celebs are partnered with.

From the numerous posts on the SCD Forum, it all boils down to the favourite professionals..

I know the professionals are necessary for the show but I thought the idea was to see how the celebs improve, not have an army of fawning fans getting themselves hysterical over a dancer.

I think that overall its probably a combination of things that gets people voting. For some people it will be their favourite pro who they will vote for, some it will be the celebrity who gets their vote and some will actually be for the couple who dance the best

For me its all about the best dancing. I have my fave pros like everyone else but if they were terrible then I would see that it would be unfair if they won.
