Hi:
In fact I think it is impossible to make a recording on the Toppy without including the subtitle information assuming it was broadcast . All you need to do is select the option to make them visible.
The Toppy will:
Record 2 channels while you watch a previous recording.
Allow you to watch any channel live while you record one channel
Allow you to watch some channels while recording 2 channels. Which ones varies. Digital Channels come in 6 groups called Multiplex.

So if you are recording one programme on MUX A and one on MUX 1 you can watch live any of the other programmes on those MUX.
If you are recording 2 programmes from the same MUX that will only use one tuner so you can watch anything live.
NB I am not deaf and do not use subtitles so I cannot really comment on how effectively subtitles are implemented on the Topfield.
I know there are some deaf Toppy owners over on

Dont know if they are regulars but might be worth asking any questions on there as well.
The last software update (5.12.88) contained some improvements to subtitle implementation. I think all new boxes come with this now but if you do get a Toppy you will need to check. Upgrading is quite easy in any case.

Edit just noticed you are considering either Humax 9200 or Topfield. I am a Toppy fan but I think (you will need to check this) all of the above applies to both boxes. They are the only 2 boxes that do the record two watch one live trick as far as I know.
