Last night at a Cambridhe event Darren Bennett was saying that People on Digitalspy were already slagging him off for getting Emma as a partner! And he was saying its not his fault he is short!
He was only joking though it does show that the dancers do read what is posted on here!
Poor Darren -sometimes I think we need to remember the pros might what we post hurtful - its only a gameshow after all!

Couldn't agree more! Who the pros are partnered with is down to the BBC production team. All the pros give an enormous amount of time and effort to the programme, and who they are partnered with is a matter of luck as well as physical compatability.

Obviously supporters of the various professionals want their pro to have the best chance possible. That's understandable. But to "slag off" any of the pros for something which is out of their control is extremely unfair, and must be quite unpleasant for them to read.

I am sure all the pros are currently working extremely hard with their partners, not only to try to win, but to provide all of us with great entertainment and I hope everyone appreciates that, whoever they support and that the infighting which occurred in certain threads last year does not happen again. Hope everyone enjoys the series.

i must admitt tho i haven't seen any slagging off in these forums (well apart from brendan when he was being evil to his partner, but then sometimes he deserves that) and i think that Darren will do well with emma, tho hopefully not as well as the precious Karen will do She needs to stay in as long as poss for pure entertainments sake!

Well Karen has been showing a keen interest in the forums for ages, we actually gave her the link once after she had lost it but I think she has been too busy to take a look. I do know she is very moved by the forum support.

As for Karen staying in long, she has to, I will vote until my fingers drop off

Hehe, wonder if Karen will ever look back here. There are only nice things said about her, of course, because there is nothing nasty to say. But it would be nice is she read it.

yeah it would, I guess she won't have the time now she has to strat training but she might take a look when they go out like she did last year But by then she will probably have lost the piece of paper you gave her

Yes Pipie, when it was first announced which pros had which celebrities some people were complaing that Darren had Emma and were saying it was an unfair advantage - I found this quite funny because no one knows who will be able to do ballroom or latin dancing and Emma herself has suffered from stage fright all her life apparently (well, according to the bbc website!)
I know most of us wouldnt say anything bad about the pros - i just remember last year some people were really hating Zoe and I felt quite bad for her (although I never really took to her myself!)

Anyway! 99% of the time pros like darren, anton, karen etc will just see how much we respect them if they are reading our comments!

I haven't Darren being slagged off anywhere on these forums. Just people giving the opinion that the partnering was unfair (including about other pros). After all this is a discussion forum and there is much about the whole show that people make negative comments about. The producers may be reading this and take note.

This was really a discussion to say that the pros are obviously reading the forums and taking note of what we say. I didn't suggest Darren was being serious -in fact, he was quite clearly joking - but he did mention it.
Only saying that maybe if someone reads something about themselves they may take it personally - which is true!

I just taking what I read from your OP i.e slagging off, yes I read you said he was joking.
It has been mentioned in this thread that pro's have been slagged off for something beyond their control, I'm just added my take on things.

Discussions do sometimes go off on a slight tangent just as you have mentioned Emma's supposed advantage in this thread.
Oh and I missed out a word in my previous post "I haven't read Darren being slagged off....." in case there is any confusion.

Its totally true, why SHOULDN'T Darren get a good partner? Just because he won once doesn't mean he should be at the bottom of the pile! It makes me really annoyed when people moan about 'the same' pros getting to the final, as if its their fault!

i dont want him to win because i want karen to win, but thn if she won this year i'd be gutted if she was given a rubbish partner to stop her from winning again so i know what you mean

I read it on the D&L forum from someone who was there( I wasnt lucky enough myself )

I know a couple of the professional involved with the show and would NEVER admit to posting here (although I think I have posted about 6 times this year! )some of the threads are just positively scarey and border on the obsessive! I thought the BB thread was weird but this forum at the moment takes the biscuit.

No real news on the show just fairy tales about the pros, and moans about who they are dancing with without even seeing them with their partner.

Will it be tidied up for the show or will those who want 'real' information about the show have to looke elsewhere????

That is just what I was going to say, everyone has expressed feelings that the BBC pairings are unfair, noone but noone could ever blame the celebrities, and I am sure that everyone is mortified to think that Darren thinks we were slagging him off. If he sounded like he was joking and didn't really mind, I would say "many a true word said in jest". He probably is a little hurt by it all, but he shouldn't be, I for one think he's a great dancer and would be looking forward to seeing him dance with anyone. Good luck to all of the pros.

A word of advice would be take to heart the good comments because there are many more of them.

Oh Bendymixer please give it a rest, it's all a bit of fun, I for one love the show and know very little about professional dancing, also none of my friends like the show, so I come on here for friendly chat about the show. SCD is so much more than just dancing, it's music, comedy, well everything really, why shouldn't people be able to talk about every aspect of it without you moaning at them.

I've kept my mouth shut til now but really! Just enjoy having a chat with us all, and ignore he posts you think are obsessive.
