I want one, but only if it plays movies. Not just music videos I have no use for, but proper films.

Yep, plenty of room, but it isn't the size of screen you really want to stare at for ages.

If you are looking at something for video you're better off looking at buying an Archos device.

I already own a video ipod, the old version. Must admit I was wondering if the battery would last for a whole movie, & how much space does a film take up?? Having films is really useful for the kids on holiday.

With the new software (get it from iTunes 7) you can easily get enough for a movie on either the 30GB or 60GB model.

I've got the 30GB I've already updated it, had to to fit tetris on it.....I love that game! Glad to know I can fit movies on it, just a case of waiting for the UK to get them now.

u can probably get loads of movies on there right?? because the resolution of the video file is lower, it wont be that big compared to say a 700Mb movie on a pc. so even with the 30Gb model, u could get crap loads of films on. or am i talking bs again?

It'll play them, but if you want a better screen, more flexible player, look at the alternatives first.

Cowon A2 (the king of PMP's currently as far as I'm concerned ... it's what I ended up buying)
Archos AV series
Zen Vision:M
Iubi Blue (very new so the firmware is still a bit buggy but looks very promising and prices in the UK are very competative)

or you could try and get hold of a Viliv P2 .... dunno if they are available in the UK yet though (or anywhere else for that matter ... lol).

For video, there are FAR better players out there than an iPod.

If nothing else, with the iPod, unless you plan on using iTunes (when they eventually make video content available on any sort of decent scale) you'll spend half your life converting video into a format it likes .....
