Scissor Sisters - Ta Dah
So what do people think of the new album? I must admit it didnt grab me as much as the debut in 2004 but I still really like it. I think the songs are much more mature and in some cases very dark. It also feels like a very personal album especially 'tell you tonight' which is about Jakes love for his boyfriend. I have to say the album has been heavily influenced by Elton John, Vaudville, Blondie and T-Rex in my opinion. I suppose this album is much more commerical than the debut, but I am glad of the inclusion of a second bonus disc which is the Sisters as I know and love them. But overall a great follow up.

Have to say I cannot stand them. Not the music. Not Jake not Ana they come across in a way that makes my sensitivyty bleed.
AND they are getting well into Biritsh celebrity trip of slagging off other groups to Sun...taking lessons for their frined Elton.? I so hate that.. if they have a beef do they not own moniles to discuss with said peron instead of being sick Pr arses and running to tabloids for reeebie press outings..it makes me ill. And their music is horrible commericial trash ,with that falsetto voice.YUCK |

The first album is fantastic, on first listens the second album is a difficult listen - I need time to listen to it again. Did anyone buy the 2CD Special Edition?

As I said on another thread - have listened to it a couple of times and my favourites are:
I Don't Feel Like Dancin' Oooh (Reminds me of Prince with Sheena Easton (U've Got The Look)) She's My Man I Can't Decide I'm sure the rest will grow on me in time!

I like the single and "Kiss you off" (which I heard on BBC Radio 1) but I've read the rest of the album isn't too good.
Tesco was sold out yesterday, and WHSmiths had a price I wasn't too happy with (for an album I hadn't even previewed the tracks of yet) so I've put off buying it. I have a CD which I've discovered has some small holes in it, so I'll be taking that back to HMV some time soon. If they have this album for an alright price I might buy it then. BTW, I thought they were supposed to be working on a track with Bryan Ferry for this album? Did this get left out or was it just a rumour? |

G CDs are so cheap nowadays (even chart ones), that £14 odd seems a bit silly. I'll maybe try Tesco again later in the week. |

So I've re-ordered it off Play.com so, hopefully, I'll have the Ltd Edition on Thursday

Against my better judgement I listened to this album yesterday to see what all the fuss was about and my God it's really crap. As gray_v said, you can hear the blatant influences (mostly good pop music from the 70s) but the songwriting just isn't up to scratch so they sound like a poor man's version of those artists. I've never really understood why they're so popular and now I'm even more confused. I guess pop music really is in a sorry state at the moment....

I like it. It's not as instantly loveable as their debut but I think it's a more interesting and daring album. Do I think they'll have as much long term success with it? Probably not. At least they're not trying to just reimagine their previous stuff and just repackage it like some groups these days. I do hvw to say it won't be to everyone's taste though...

It's not as good as the first album, and one or two of the songs are instantly forgettable. But a good follow-up record, I like it.

![]() In fact, most of the songs sound strikingly like other songs. I have to say, this album IS NOT a 'wow' collection of songs but it's ok. I preferred it on a second listening. The first 3 tracks and 'The Other Side' are the best toons IMHO, the latter being the albums stand-out track. I really can't understand their choice of second single though. it's incredibly bland  I think their 3rd album will be a big flop if they do more of the same. |

aw, i think it's a good album. Some really fun little songs on their. A few forgetables but generally quite strong.
There are a number of songs which have parts which sound like other songs, but I've heard that is going to happen more and more often with there only being a limited number of ways to throw notes together...copyright laws will be going mental soon enough!! |

I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking "She's My Man" sounds like "I'm Still Standing"
![]() I have tos ay, hearing it all this weekend, my mum and I thought "Land Of A Thousand Words" was co-written by Elton but it's not yet it sounds sooo Elton. "Kiss You Off" is very Blondie I think...and erm the lyrics to "I Can't Decide"...hmm, bit rude to quote but let's just say..LOL! Loving it on third listen, obviously will need to grow on me but it's not as instantly memorable as their first one where I consider every song to be amazing...perhaps in time I will with this one.

It's quite an eclectic collection of tunes, but having listened to it a few times now, I have to say I am liking it a lot. I wish I'd managed to get tickets to see them live.

I'm still waiting for my copy from CD-WOW.
I've downloaded it from the old torrent sites as I've paid for my copy and just can't wait for it to hit my doorstep. I thought there was something wrong with me at first as I thought it was a bit off base but then I realised that the problem was that I liked every single track and couldn't decide on a favourite. I've since listened to it around 40 times over the last week and I still can't get enough. Now just waiting for my real CD along with bonus disc.
