Universal Music's new CD cases
So what do you all think of Universal's use of the "Super Jewel Case" for all their new CDs?
Personally I think these boxes look horrible - particularly on the back cover with the 2 huge chunks cut out of the corners. The hinges (which are supposedly tougher than regular CD cases) look like they will break off with the smallest drop on the floor. |

I don't like the look of them either. It was a bit of a shock to see when I got my Scissor Sisters album yesterday. I thought there was something wrong with it.

Personally I like them but from a work point of view they are a pain, if the case breaks we have to faulty the whole cd, whereas we have replacement regular cd cases!

Just pop into your local HMV or Music Zone to check them out, I see them as no more annoying as the cardboard digipak cases..now those you definately can't replace once ripped, snapped or scuffed.

Very classy looking case IMHO, although maybe I'm biased as I've just got the Scissor Sisters album for free from the shop that truly believes Every little Helps....

These cases have been about for 4 Years! You may have seen them before. They are often used in DVD Singles. The 1st of this kind of case I have is Coldplay - The Scientist DVD single from 2002.

They are ok, but it's really just another form of fancy packaging to attract buyers.

I have the Scissor Sisters album and the case feels sturdier than the usual cases.
I don't like the 2 holes in the back though....think of all that dust
