Hard-Fi appreciation
Stars of CCTV
This is the first album I have managed to listen to, almost daily, for a year yet not grown tired of. Am I the onluy one that thinks the album is like a social commentary, with issues like Capitolism (Cash Machine), The War in Iraq (Middle Eastern Holiday), Drug abuse (Feltham is Singing Out), Weekend Culture (Living For The Weekend), Public Liberties (Stars Of CCTV)...... Not to mention the odd Indie Rock essentials of contempory love songs and the youth's perspectives. An awesome band all round and mint live. What more could you want??? Any other hard core Hard-Fi fans on here? |

I wouldn't say i was a 'hard core' fan, but I am definetely a fan, yes.
Plus I met Richard Archer in Staines about a year a go, I saw him with I think another member of Hard Fi (though I didn't know which one cos I didn't know them THAT well then) so me and my sister followed him around until he went into a Game. After many embarassed, starstruck giggles, pointing and staring (I think he noticed too ) I went over to him, and had to get my sis to ask for his autograph, I just looked down at the floor! He was really nice about it too, and much better looking in real life than in photos.. After that I decided I would definetely buy the album and I love it! Feltham Is Singing Out and Living For The Weekend are awesome tracks. |

Can only fans join in?
I have to say I like a couple of their songs (the one that copies Prefab Sprout, can't remember its name) but you have to admit this band just can't hack it live. The singer just can't sing a note. Saw them at T in the Park I think it was and it was just embarrassing.

LOL - course not, anyone that likes em is welcome.
As for the singing live comment - Until you've seen them in a pokey little gig hall you haven't seen them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4h5N48Dsp5s 'Nuff said. |

I think if you are going to base your argument about whether he can sing or not on clips from Youtube, you are going to struggle a little: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZhS9vzMucM

Indeed and I'll agree, however when I saw them - I thought they were mint. And on that occasion the siging wasn't that bad.

ive seen Had-FI live a few times. I'm from around the same area as Richard Archer so have friends who know him and have met him (really nice guy).
I thought they were really good live and he sung ok but I must admit when ive seen coverage on TV of them over summer at festivals etc his voice does sound dodge. Cant wait to hear what their next album. Are they working on one? Anyone know when it will be released? |
