Is it worth me investing in the new nano?

I have just been on the Apple website and have looked at the new edition nanos!! They look really nice. At the moment I have one on the old blue ipod minis. I have it nearly two years and it works fine but would it be worth me upgrading to one of the new nanos or would I just be wasting my money?

It all depends it you would rather be laughed at for being out of date or laughed at for spending more money needlessly.

You would be wasting your money in reality.

That said, don't think you alone in sitting and drooling. I have an old Nano, which is perectly fine, and I to went - ooooooh I wonder.... but common sense has to come into play, and the purpose of the device is to play music and podcasts - which both our models do fine.

Wait until something really dramatic happens - like a widescreen touch video iPod - then think about upgrading.

it also depends on how much storage space you need - I've gone from 30gb to 40gb to 80gb as I ran out of space - so if your mini is nearly full why not

Yeah, I wouldn't do it. I have a white 4GB nano, but I want one of the new Ipod videos. I'm desperate for one. I'm going to resist getting one though.

These new Ipods haven't been improved massively. They've changed the headphones and made the screens brighter, but they haven't really made any major changes. I think that they are planning on something big for this time next year, and that they updated the nano and video now so that they can get as much money as they can before they launch new ipods next year.

You have had your Mini some time now it would be perfectly normal if you wished to upgrade your Mini to something else. It would also be perfectly normal if you did not wish to upgrade it as well if it did all that you needed it to and you can saw no benefits of getting a new Nano.

I sold my Mini and iPod Mini accessories of on Ebay this week for just under £80. I bought my Mini in May of this year on Ebay and if Apple had out coloured Nanos out then i would have bought one as i liked the look of them then but i just hated the limited range of colours but now that has changed. Btw, Mini's do seem to sell quite well one Ebay.

I don't know if i will get a Nano now though or something else. I sold mine because i wanted something more modern with more features.

I've got an iPod shuffle, and I was thinking about getting the newer version. But there's no point, this may be slightly bigger than the updated version but it's still tiny and does what I need it to do.

It's a 1gb Shuffle and I've never filled it full once!
Considering it was £69.99 I think I'll stick with this until next year at least.

Yeah, they usually update them every year, usually a brand new model/generation or, like this year, just an updated version. It will be the sixth generation iPod next year probably, and I've heard there will be some major changes.

I doubt the Nano will be updated again next year. I think the Mini was only updated once before being discontinued.

I think one of the reasons the Nano has been updated with the colours is because the iPod Mini is still the best selling iPod ever - they probably want that to happen with the Nano.

I wonder why the discontinued to ipod mini if it was the best selling ipod ever. They should have just updated it.

Re: Rose 18's last comment
I suspect that it's due to the comparitive costs of Flash Ram VS a 1.5 inch hard drive, i.e Flash Ram is now cheaper than the hard drive & is potentally more reliable....
