I bought the cheapo Wharfedale which I am very pleased with so far - only problem disc I've found is the Gladiator thing.
One thing that does puzzle me is that some discs seem to play 'noisily' i.e. I can hear them spinning in the machine, yet others make no noise at all. I would have expected them all to play quietly like a CD. Is this something I should expect because I am a skinflint? |

Firstly , don`t worry ,there`s nothing wrong with your player. The noise that you can hear is caused by several factors and the most common are as follows ,
A)Non concentricity of the outer edge of the disc with the hole in the center , this causes an uneven rotation which omits a kind of shuffling sound while the disc is spinning . B)And beleive it or not ( but i know it`s true )it can also be caused by the graphics printed on the discs . The noises are more apparent on cheaper players quite simply because , on more expensive models a great deal more attention is paid to the damping of the disc cradle , the manufactures have to cut the build costs down somewhere to get the players down in the price brackets that they`re aiming for and this area , amongst a few others is one of their favourites . Hope this answers your query . |

I had a 750 but tock it back due to the disc noise (made an excuse up). Got myself a JVC, anyway the noise is louder after a layer change (god knows why), i tried surounding it in pillows, but a glass cabinet would work
