I'm looking for a DVD Player which is DivX certified and has a USB Port which can be used to play DivX files (video) from my 1GB USB Flash/Pen Drive.

The Philips DVP5960 would have been great for me if it had SCART output instead of an HDMI connection. It does what I want but I don't have an HDTV.

The Yamada Chili DVD-7200XCU is perfect but doesn't appear to be in stock anywhere.

Can anyone recommend a good one please?

There are no UK sold DVD players that dont have scart. The Philips DVP5960 will definatly have a scart aswell, even if it has a HDMI connection on it.

Are you sure? I thought I had seen normal DVD players (which upscale normal DVDs upto 1080i) with only HDMI out and no SCART.

According to some specs, the Philips DVP5960 has NO SCART. It has HDMI, composite and component (and audio outs) but NO SCART.

Just had a proper look. Though not widely publicised, it appears as though the Philips DOES have SCART!

Thank you very very much mate, VERY appreciated.

This is a DivX Ultra DVD player, with SCART, USB port and HDMI if I upgrade to HDTV. Perfect!

Uh oh. Just read the manual. Absolutely no mention of SCART. Only Component, Composite and HDMI (+ audio connections).

I'll have to go and look at one with my own eyes.

Comet and Dixons websites say it has no RGB via the SCART. Not reliable sources, but the only ones I've found.

I bought one of these last week - Kazuki DVD-7400X DVD Player
DivX Compatible
USB Interface
Memory Card Reader (MS, MMC, SD)
£ 31.48 ex VAT, £ 36.99 inc VAT

http://www.cclonline.com/product-inf...&tid=eshot0110

I have not had much time to try it out - it is fine with avi and videoCD formats but I could only get sound using .mpg files.

I think this is from the same source as Yamada

Every divx player I've had under £40 makes a horrid clicking sound as the disc spins.

Is the SCART RGB compatible (does it output in RGB quality from the SCART)?

(There is a firmware update to fix the 5.1 Dolby Digital sound problem you mention).

SCARTs are usually only found on European models of equipment, so that could be the reason for the conflicting information online.

Thanks, that's probably it.

I'm just trying to find out if the SCART on it outputs RGB or not. If it outputs RGB quality pictures I will get it.
