Talk Talk blocking VPN connections ??
Hi all,
A friend of mine has recently got talktalk broadband and phone line. I have since set him up on wireless, which was a nightmare and now trying to sort out his "ipsec vpn" connection to log on to the server in his works office. No joy at all on the vpn and im now reading many angry posts on the internet about vpn problems and talk talk in general, so my friend decided to phone talk talk and get a definite answer : Call no:1 - No Sir we do not block vpn's I tried again but still cannot get his vpn to work. Call no:2 - A dpm ? What is that........No I said vpn, well we dont block anything sir (yeah rite, tell that to the online gamers and p2p downloaders). Call no:3 - Can I speak to your supervisior - No but i can speak to him for you - Do you block vpn's - he went away and "supposedly talked to his supervisor" - yes sir we block ALL vpn connections - are you sure ? - yes positive. Told my mate - mate went nuts. Mate phones talk talk - My vpn does not work since switching to you, does that mean you block vpn connections ? - no sir we do not block anything at all (even though he did not know what a vpn was) This has gone on for a few days and we cannot get a straight answer, so does anyone on these forums know the real truth about talktalk and vpn connections ? Cheers |

Have you checked that your firewall isn't blocking VPN traffic? if you are using a router check this setting!

Cheers This seems to be too low for most UDP based VPNs. TCP based VPNs will probably still work but I find they perform poorly, often requiring disconnecting and reconnecting every so often when they get jammed up. On their commuinity website they actually suggest artificially lowering your MTU as a wa y to fix VPN connections!! My conclusion is that TalkTalk are a bunch of hopelessly out of date idiots. |

Well no such problems here on my TT connection. MTU is set at 1492 and i've been using AirVPN (via OpenVPN protocol) for the last few years without any problems. I think its a problem at your end...
