Sat Nav Thru Car Speakers?
BCtom
24-09-2006
I have a navman sat nav system in my car however when I am playing music I can not hear the sat nav over it. I know the easy option would be not to play music but is there anyway I can use the sat nav's audio out which is for headphones ect to connect it to my car speakers so I can hear both?

I have a new renault clio with a cd player. Any ideas? Thanks.

It would be good to know how for as you say you cant always hear the Sat Nav when you got music or the radio on but I dont think it can be done.

You can get devices for motorbikes which cut out the music when the phone rings. I wonder if you could adapt one of these?

I wondered if I could use one of those short wave FM transmitters, the type you can plug into mp3 players and then tune your radio into the frequency. However I wouldnt be able to listen to a cd while tuned in ect.

Try not playing your music so loud.

Is the sat nav on a TomTom hardware or a PDA?

I have TomTom in my HP iPAQ (within built in GPS receiver), and use the bluetooth handsfree kit for the TomTom when listening to music.

^ This may be a solution if your device is bluetooth compatible.

Hi lawrenma2, afraid its a navman unit which doesnt have bluetooth capabilities.

navman is what I also have the 330 and that dont have bluetooth. Will have to try and turn the radio now a little maybe so I can hear the sat nav for I do like to listen to the radio in the car. I could Turn the navman sound up but dont want it to loud.

Halfords have a decent line of Sony CD players - I got the one at around the £120 mark , it's a GX300 i think. Anyways, it has a line in on the front so you can plug in a 3.5mm lead from the headphones jack of the sat nav to the input of the CD player, ensuring you have music which is interrupted by a German announcer's voice.
It's a decent stereo too.
