Any party tune that involves a regimented dance step. Macerena, tragedy (steps), TimeWarp - I bet you wish you hadn't asked this question.

Black Eyed Peas are a firm fave in my house.

What music do 7 to 11 year olds like?

You only need to look at the Top 40 to answer that question!

I bet he has got a particular interactive PS2 game which uses a camera and the object of the game is to "clean the screen". I cringe every time my son uses this game!!!!

My children like music that is distinctive.

We heard a song played on a cd the driver compiled whilst on an excursion on holiday in the Domenican Republic. I asked for the name of the Artist and song, downloaded it and now have it as a ringtone on my phone. The song is best heard in the right place at the right time for those who've never heard it before. Although for us, we love to listen to it anytime, as it always brings a smile to our faces. Sorry to go on, but you did ask.

I think 7 year olds and 11 year olds probably like completely different things. Theres a BIG difference between a 7 year old and an 11 year old.

When I was 7 I liked Shania Twain up til I was about 8 or 9.
After that I liked Dido until I was about 11.
And also among them were older artists that my mum listened to, eg Abba, Celine Dion, Madonna etc
Then when I was 11 (actually, possibly 12 can't remember) I fell in love with Keane.

And most 7- 11 year olds at the moment?

I would have to agree with most of the posters above.
Pussycat Dolls, Black Eyed Peas, a lot of hip hop, rap, r'n'b and dance seem to be popular. It kind of worries me because a lot of those artists sell sex, drugs and foul language. And the music isn't even good.
Role models?
Pah. I don't think so.

I didn't think I'd be saying this but thank goodness for all those squeaky clean popsters!

I'm working in a class of 8 year olds at the minute and they're into The Black Eyed peas, Westlife, Rhianna (sp) The Ordinary Boys, The Pussy Cat dolls and Robbie Williams.

Oh but This High school Musical thing is a big hit at the mo in the class

I have to agree with the Poster above though. Most music are far too old for youngsters. That Black Eyed Peas song, My Humps. The words in that and the kids in the class singing it was absolutely terrible!

We had to tell them not to sing it in the class or the school as a lot of the words were unbelieveable

Except they're not squeeky clean are they. It's just an image sold to people by record companies run by people who are also far from squeeky clean. It's sold as a nice wholesome image which parents by into when in reality there'll be drug addiction, alcoholism and a whole manner of other "unsavoury" things that they're involved in but it's ok to sell it to kids because that's behind the scenes.

Sadly and distressingly, some of them have CD's like this aimed at them.

Feelfree: Unfortunately, they do. Check out my above link. It may not be Beep, but Buttons ain't no better!

Am I missing the point? Why on earth does the OP want to know what 7-11 year olds listen too?

Yes that is true. But the record companies are still right to keep this clean image of them being shown to kids.
When I was 7 I wouldn't have known about anything they did in their time away from music, I was just really interested in the lyrics of songs.
It is all about the image for kids. And I meant with most popstars it is good that they have a squeaky clean image, because that's what the kids are interested in. most popstars don't go around in their videos barely dressed behaving like they're prostitutes and singing about loosening up their buttons or whatever. Thats the one thing I'll give credit to Shayne, Westlife and (to some extent) Girls Aloud to.

I suppose this might be too young for them. Or too old.
