Have you not been to Paris?
Seriously, it's like walking through a litter tray.

Tesco Metro in London's Oxford Street is on two floors.

You have to use the lift to get to the lower level, rather frustrating if you miss something that you forgot to pick up while down there.

Tesco's in Slough (supposedly the biggest one in Europe) is built above a huge carpark, with travelators and lifts as well as escalators. It is huge and can take you 2 hours to do your weekly shop! On the carpark level they've got concession shops, hairdressers, Krispy Kreme Donuts and they've built a bridge across the main road into the town centre!

Mind you, they've also taken over all the petrol stations and little local supermarkets and turned them into Tesco Extra's - does this count as a monopoly??

My tesco has 2 floors, the upper one is a coffe place.

A HUGE Tesco is under construction in my local town, Galashiels, in the Scottish Borders. They've demolished the old Tesco's, as well as old ancient government buildings (there were large amounts of protests) This new one is at least 2 floors tall, has an underground car park, is covered in green glass so it looks more like a building suited for the City of London. But Galashiels is a relatively small town! Madness. I dunno if it's a good thing or not.

they used to have a co-op near me and to get up stairs where the car park was was a slope thing, you could stay on it if you wanted, it is like magnetic with the wheels so it doesnt move

Tesco Newton Abbot is currently having a 2nd floor constructed. They've been building it since the summer, and the 2nd floor opens in about a months time if i remember... I wont see it till I get back in December though

Although I've been in a few multistory M&S stores, I've never seen these trolley 'travelators'. Do you go up with your trolley or is there a seperate escalator for people?

I went to an Asda somewhere where it was on two floors, the bottom floor was for electrical equpiment, furniture, dvds/games etc and the top floor was for food and the checkouts.

Yes, you go up with your trolley. They go quite slowly, it's not like a rollercoaster! The floor of it has little grooves in it and the trolley fixes in them and will not move until it's wheels come off it at the top so you can let go of the handle and it won't roll away. This is why you are not meant to use them for pushchairs and wheelchairs as they don't have the same wheels! (apparently! )

my local asda is two floors, but like someone said before, its just a cafe & toilets, there is no actual shopping ailses on the top floor, however the George section is in a whole other building close by.

I know of stores with 2nd floors due to parking, but not 2 floors of shopping

Ooooh I remember in my youth we had a supermarket on two floors - was called Ailsa first then Presto. That were back in about 1973 in west Edinburgh. Top floor was foodstuff and bottom floor was householdy stuff, albums and the like.

What do Tescos sell on the second floor? A better class of trash?

Unlike here where Tescos pick it up and sell it.

Normally non-food items, such as DVD's / Music, electrical, household, toys etc etc - leaving more space downstairs for more food lines
