Help!

I've ran out of ideas.

I desperately need an a/v cable for my JVC GR-D240EK camera, it's IMPOSSIBLE to find, even JVC haven't got them.

I only bought the thing 18 months ago, trust me to buy one you can't get parts for! (Trust me to lose the cable)

Does anyone know where i can get this cable. It has a small rectangular end that plugs into the camera and 3 coloured plugs on the other end!

I'm a total novice when it comes to this stuff, but i NEED the camble or nobody will be able to watch my Holiday Video.... and we CAN'T have that.

Any idea's?

A small regtangular end?

Are you sure it doesn't have a small round socket? Like a microphone socket? to fit a cable like;

They're the only ones I've ever seen - and apparently JVC cameras take them - you should be able to get them at Jessops or any camera shop

I've had a look at the user manual for your camcorder at the JVC site and the socket (page 36-editing) on the camcorder is a 4 pin mini DV. JVC only show a lead with the same connection each end for connecting to a PC, VCR or DVD recorder (have you one of these? and does it have the same socket?), they do not show one with three phono plugs which is what you are referring to.
I've also checked ebay for you and nobody is selling one with the phono plugs but there is the 4 pin - 4pin lead.

Sorry I can't help any more but perhaps now you will know exactly what you need and can shop local, say Dixons? (Currys.digital) or somewhere that makes leads to requirements.

Looking at the manual it looks like a special... unlike most JVC's I've seen that use the small 1 pin / 4 connector to 3 RCA connectors, this one does use a sort of firewire looking connector that goes to analogue video output.

For anyone who wants to see, check out the pdf manual:

Your link is for a 4pin mini firewire IEEE1394 cable though and not the analogue video output cable that I think Loopyloo requires.
Page 21 of the manual shows connecting up to a video or TV... page 36 shows the DV firewire connector.
I think what is required is < THIS > - I put the two images next to each other on the image - with the required connector image on the right, perhaps this can be confirmed by Loopyloo?

it looks like the two sockets are next to each other and look almost the same.

ah I can see now, I enlarged the pic and there are two different connections, perhaps Loopyloo can identify the socket here..

and a lead here....

http://www.memoryforless.co.uk/store...__sfsk--0.html

those leads show just two phonos but as long as one is audio and the other vid it would work ok.

I think I've found it at partmaster.co.uk, it's a multi cable for JVC cams and if it doesn't fit they have a 14 day return policy.

Thanks Lloydje, I wish it did have one of that type of connector. I've ordered the correct one from Partsmaster now. Cheers for looking. Much appreciated

If anyone is buying a camera pretty soon. This one is a good one but its a pain having that type of cable. I lost my cable which is my own fault, but imagine if the cable broke, it's hard to find a new one! You can get a better camera now anyway so it wont be an issue. Thanks again again
