Hey, was just listening to Robbie Williams' old album 'Escapology' and came across a track called 'Monsoon', which i absolutely love and think should have been released as a single. I was just thinking there must be loads of tracks from artists albums which people prefer to the ones they released, so what's everyone else's favourite track from an album which was never released as a single?

Too many to mention. But at the moment it would have to be "Letter to God" from Sheryl Crow's "Wildflower" album.

I agree about Monsoon by Robbie, add to that One of Gods Better People and Phoenix From The Flames. Karma Killer's also amazing.

Theres a few on the latest Sugababes album as well that are amazingly good!

yes, Take my hand is my favourite track off that. There was one off 'Life for rent' that I thought was better than the singles as well.

I always thought 'Downbound train' bu Bruce Springsteen off the Born in the USA album would have made a great single.

Oh christ, most of my favourite tracks ever have never graced the singles chart - and for good reason, they are quality and have depth!!

Anyways, my favourites would be classics like "Day in the Life", "Helter Skelter", "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", "Across the Universe" (all Beatles), Immigrant Song, Dazed and Confused (Zeppelin), much of the entire Kid A album by Radiohead......the list is endless. Singles usually suck balls compared to album tracks.

I could spend all day on this, but I'll name a few:

- Skunk Anansie - Little Baby Swastikkka (although it was released on vinyl as a promo - From Paranoid and Sunburnt)

- Björk - Mouths Cradle (from Medúlla)

- Massive Attack - Group four (from Mezzanine - soooooooooo good)

Monsoon is a big favourite with RW fans and is still on the playlist at concerts. Personally I would say Me and My Monkey is his best unreleased song!

I think a better question would be what is the best unreleased song ever - ie not been even issued on any single, album, EP.....

The Beatles have always been the best at this, which is why the Anthology albums were so popular and great.

However, since they've been issued now, the best song that's NEVER been issued is "Watching Rainbows" or "Wake up in the Morning" by them

I agree with you on this to some extent, but I think that singles are useful as a commercial 'taster' for an album.

While there's always been a fair amount of rubbish in the charts, there's been some real classics throughout the years too.

Just to correct one point - Led Zepp didn't make a habit of releasing any singles, although there was a limited release of Immigrant Song. My husband has a copy of it - we've no intention of selling it, but think it might be worth a few bob now!!

Warning Sign from Coldplays ROBTTH and Dry on Feeder's Yesterday Went Too Soon are brilliant songs which could have done well if released.

It is a brilliant song. And I agree with the Robbie Williams tracks, Monsoon, Hot Fudge and Phoenix From the Flames are all brilliant. I will try to think of some more of my favourites.

Definitely keep hold of that!! Was it genuine UK limited release, or an import? Led Zeppelin are a stupidly good band.
