Can steam ruin electronics?
I have recently purchased a Steam Generator (Fancy Iron) to make my life easier. I have used it about 5 times and my Telly has now given up the ghost (ok so it was 5 and a half years old!!). I know that Mobile Phones and MP3 players do not like condensation one little bit and have been known to stop working but can the steam generated from my new iron (which is a lot!) be damaging my living room electronics
There's no warning in the booklet about using the iron near electronics so the TV packing up may be a complete coincidence but I don't want to risk ruining anything else (especially my new telly ).To be on the safe side I think I'll iron in a different room but any knowledgeable input would be much appreciated. |

We ( well Mrs grays to be strictly accurate
) have been using a Steam generator iron for a couple of years now, in a smallish lounge, both with our old CRT telly and our new LCD one and we've had no problems at all. So long as the room is reasonably well ventilated and you aren't turning it into a Sauna you should be fine

Cheers for that now I can iron whilst watching Telly without worrying too much.
Now I just need to find a Mrs Thingymabob so I can dispense with the ironing side of things

![]() Steam will damage electronic but as grays says, unless you are turing the room into a sauna/ steam room or are ironing directly under the TV I would be very doubtful that the amount of steam getting into the cabinate would be sufficient to actually cause the damage. |

HAHAHA!Love the way you put that! Images of somebody ironing directly under their television sets are stuck in my head currently.
