New To LCD- Some general queries..
OK, finally took the plunge and I'm now the owner of a DMTech 37" LCD.
First off, I'm sure I've read that LCD's take some time to bed in' from new and that making any major adjustments are best done after the TV has a few hours of use under it's belt? While I'm generally happy with what I'm seeing already, and I know a lot of this is down to personal preference, I'd certainly be interested to hear what tweaks might heighten the viewing experience. I've not gone to town yet on making the best of the ample connections this TV has- The Scart image from my SKY+ box seems quite good, as does my external freeview PVR on the other scart (in fact, that looks far more 'natural' than the picture from the inbuilt Freeview tuner which is the only thing disappointing me at present!). My intention is to connect the DVI socket to my PC as I have both DVB-S and DVB-T tuners in there, both of which are capable of producing HD, or would I be better connecting the PC to the D-sub connector and leaving the DVI socket for something else down the line (like, say, SKY+)? I'm assuming that I'll need to get a new graphics card for my PC as the current one only has a single output plus s-video and composite outputs- any recommendations there? I'm not a gamer so don't need anything particularly grand for my PC work(I currently run a 64mb Radeon). One last thing- the set is sold with 'HDMI Connectivity' as a feature, but there is no HDMI socket on the unit- apparently, it achieves this HDMI connectivity' via the DVI socket which is HDCP enabled...does this sound normal, or does it like someone is pulling my todger?? As I understood it, HDMI was a single audio and vidio connection whereas DVI is video only, isn't it?? As ever any thoughts on any of this would be greatly appreciated. |
