I went in the carphone warehouse to get a new phone as my contract with orange has expired and as i wanted the Nokia N73 i would have to leave orange because they do not yet have the N73.

I chose to go with O2 so the staff at carphone warehose told me to phone Orange and ask for a PAC Code to transfer my number, i did this but Orange said they will have to post it to me and wouldnt give it to me over the phone or text it to me which they have allways done in the past and it will take 3-5 days which meant i couldn't yet have my new phone so i will have to go back to the store when i get my PAC Code.

I have alllways had good service from Orange but i won't be going back to them in the future.

Are all service providers this petty when you leave them or is it just poor service from Orange?

this is the only way they can give you the code, i wanted to change my network and keep my number, i am moving to o2, i rang orange and they sent out the letter and i got it within 2 days, i rang o2 and gave it them and tommorow is when the change over is happening.

i think the customer service at orange is good and have had no problems but o2 seem much better and i cant wait to go with them.

hope this helps

Why can't you get the new phone right away?

If you get it on O2 you'll just have a new mobile number for a few days until you get your PAC code.

Thats what I did, then you just divert all your calls to the new number for a couple of days.

O2 direct can give temporary numbers but I don't think CPW are able to. Bear in mind CPW are not o2, they are a service provider using the o2 network so the billing and the customer services is provided by CPW.
