so what is HDMI
Weve just got a 32" HDTV from novatech Hyundai Q321 32" Widescreen DVI 8ms LCD TV HDTV Sky HD Ready Display With Digital DVB-T Tuner Speakers In Black & Silver
and we have our DVD player, VCR and sky box connected together through a SCART. But what exactly is HDMI? should we be using it? how much is it? Thanks Last edited by Farscape888 : 29-09-2006 at 16:05. |

The High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is an all-digital audio/video interface capable of transmitting uncompressed streams.

To save starting a new thread i have a question myself about HDMI.
Iv seen a 32" lcd tv that is HD ready, it has an HDMI input but i dont think it has VGA or DVI input. The question is, Is it possible to connect my PC to the HDMI socket on this tv using a DVI to HDMI cable? thanks in advance for any answers given. |

You just need a DVI > HDMI cable, connect the two together, then set your computers output resolution to one that is supported by your TV. To get the pc's image onscreen using my notebook I.... Right click on desktop. Select Graphics Options Select Output to > Options are Monitor or Intel(R) Dual Display Clone > Monitor and notebook. DVI does not carry audio. So you will have to source that somehow. You could use the audio inputs/outputs on the pc and TV, or select monitor/???? and have the pc outputting the audio. HDMI is only used by HD boxes, so unless you have sky HD, a HD-DVD player or telewest TVdrive it wont give you any improvement. Also, From the sounds of it your tv doesnt have HDMI, only DVI. So if you choose to get a HD source you will need to get a HDMI to DVI adapter for your tv. Quote:
