Thanks for the reply and the links Hancock.
After reading the AV forum I am going to buy the Tenosonic from Woolworth's because at £399.99 for a 32inch Widscreen HD ready LCD tv is a bargain. And many gave it a good review. I will be wall mounting it and will also buy a scart adapter as my current widscreen crt has 3 scart sockets and the Tenosonic only has 2 scart sockets. The scart adapter will go in to Scart 1 then I will be puging in to the Scart adapter a Denon DVD-2900 dvd player a Thomson DTI6300-16 Top Up TV Anytime Freeview box and a Pioneer DVR-530H 160gig HDD dvd recorder. I am going to town on my day off from work on Wednesday. So I will see if Woolworth's in Colchester have any that I can buy to take home there and then. I would even be able to order it at the Colchester Woolworth's for pick up at Moldan, Whitam later that day from Moldan or Whitam as they are very close to were I live. But if Chelmsford have any I will have to get them to reserve it for me so that I can pick it up next week as I have the week off work. But at the end of the day if I have to order it and wait for it to be delivered then I will do as the price is great and I don't want to pay any more for an lcd tv or miss out on getting this HD ready widscreen lcd tv for the sake off waiting a few weeks. I will proberbly go to Agos and buy the Hitachi 32LD6600 which at the moment Argos are selling for £599.99 until 20/10/06. The Hitachi is HD ready and has an HDMI in socket, 2 scart sockets, component in, D-Sub PC in, S-video input, composite video inputs and stereo audio in. My dad has the Hitachi 6200 widscreen LCD tv in the spear room which I have been having a play with ans thought it was pretty good. So what I would like to know is Is the Hitach 32LD6600 HD ready LCD any good? |

I went to the Woolies web site, used the store locator to enter my postcode and just phoned the five nearest branches. Luckily one of them still had one of these tellies in stock so they're holding it for me until tomorrow. Can't wait!
As the long thread at AVforums states this telly is really just a rebadged Thomson 32LB125B5 so it's one heck of a bargain for £400. To answer "TV King"s question - if that 24 page thread about this at AVForums is to be believed then yes, it's not just "any good" it's "VERY good". There are a number of reports form people in that thread who've bought this and many people say it's comparable with tellies for which they've previously paid 2 or 3 times the price. Initially I was only looking for a new "bedroom" telly because the one we have has a horizontal scan problem so that some of the image "falls off the edges" but if this 32" LCD turns out to be as good as it looks it'll probably get pride of place in the front room and the Sony CRT I bought just last year will move to the bedroom. Can't wait for the morning - anticipation is too exciting! Cliff |

Evesham 32'' LCD
You can buy the Evesham LCD for £599 from the following link http://www.lowestonweb.com/products/...B-14471E18C9A4
It comes with a 3 year warranty and 24 months interest free credit. I have just had one delivered and so far so good. |

I just can't begin to describe what an unbelievable bargain this thing is. It's at least as good as any LCD TV I've ever seen displayed in shops such as Dixons, Currys, Comet etc. It's true that when you play Freeview into it (from a Fusion PVR) then sometimes (for example the fast movement during F1 qualifying) that you now see the MPEG compression artefacts that were blurred by the previous 26" Sony CRT we were using. You also notice the pixelation on the news tickers on BBC News 24 and Sky News at the bottom of the screen but on the whole the picture is unbelievably good - especially watching BBC wildlife documneatries for example. The colour saturation is far more "lush" than the previous CRT set so that pictures look really vibrant (and this isn't just a case of twiddling the picture controls). When I played DVDs into it (with far better compression rates than Freeview) then it really comes into it's own. I put "LOTR:Fellowship of the Ring" on for a few minutes just to show my wife what it would look like with some really decent source material and one hour fifteen minutes later we stopped it simply because we had to go out shopping. But I'd happily have stopped in for all three movies as this screen gives them a realistic display we didn't get with any previous CRT telly. I've yet to wire it up to my laptop but it has the VGA input there that I will be trying later. It's also got the HDMI and DVI inputs so will be ready for when I eventually get a PS3 and right now, the screen looks so good, that I'm half tempted to pick up an Xbox 360 simply to give it something decent to display. And the main thing - it was only £399 !!! As I left Woolies in Saffron Walden yesterday they still had one boxed on the shelf. If anyone is in half a mind about this then get on the phone and ask them to put it aside for you - you will NOT be sorry ! Cliff (oh and our front room now feels about 2ft larger than it did yesterday!) |

Later... just to confirm that it did a grand job of showing this laptop's video output. The maximum mode this laptop can do is 1024x768 so on the 1366x768 panel it occupied a central rectangle within the middle of the wide screen. I've not got anything I can easily connect up to try higher graphics modes but for 1024x768 it was exactly the same as operating a large version of this laptop.

My local bar has several Technosonic TV's up on the walls and the picture quality on them for analogue and SD Sky is unbelievably good. If they are only £399 in Woolies, I may just get one to replace the CRT we have in the living room.

Only thing about the one you recommend is that it's £200 more than the £399 one at Woolworths. That's half as much again so it's harldy comparing apples with apples is it? The Woolworths one is badged "Technosonic" but under the hood it's a Thomson which, to my mind, are of equal quality to Toshiba anyway And it's 2/3rds the price! |

Asda are selling a 32" HDTV LCD set for £479 - it's a Dual one and I am certain it is a rebadged Hitachi unit but dont quote me on that.
From what I saw though the picture quality is outstanding! |

I kept this page from last week ? The Woolies TV Looks Good, I've seen 3 Different versions same set different set ups for £399 Unbeleivable, On the Same Day i went into the B & O Shop in Shrewsbury.................. I know B & O are the DB's but i could not justify spending £6100 for a 32 incher Plus £595 for the Stand when TV's are coming out at this price. The Woolies TV is a Thompson Re: Link and the amount of sockets on the back is amazing when compared to some of the £800-999 Sets at Curry's ![]() http://www.myspace.com/paulwillhappy Last edited by paulwillhappy : 12-10-2006 at 20:27. |

I am looking to replace the 28 inch Philips CRT in the living room. It is around 6-7 years old. With a budget of £500-600, and either LCD or Plasma, and HD ready as requirements what should I go for. Will this Technosonic suit the needs as the main TV and how big is 32 inches compared to the existing TV as all I ever see are 42 inch screens
Also has any one got a link to the full specs of this TV? |
