Its just been announced on the official website here that Joe Strummer passed away yesterday.

Our thoughts go out to his family and may he rest in peace.

He truly was one of rock and rolls all time greats.

The spokesperson of a generation and the man who introduced me to political issues.

No chance of that Clash reunion, the saddest day this year.

Is this for real?

If so, that is extremely sad news.:'(
The Clash were the first rock band I listened to.
I can't beleive this.:'(

Everyone's gotta go at some point, I suppose. The best we can hope for is to have brought pleasure and hope that at least we'll be missed.

It's not the years, honey. It's the mileage

Yes unfortunatly its not a wind up. Its being reported on most reliable sources now (see The Guardian for example).

I've got some Clash rarieties at home that will certainly get a playing tonight.

BTW It's believed he suffered a heart attack at home. He leaves behind a wife and three daughters.

What makes Joe's passing even more sad is the fact that they were going to be inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame in three months, and that the Clash were going to reform just to play one song at their induction.

He was one of the few rock musicians who never 'sold out'.
Total respect.
RIP.
