Two Questions...

I have just upgraded my phone to a Samsung E900 (i'm on orange) and they told me when I ordered it over the phone that I would receive a new sim card and should use this and register it blah blah. I've had it for about 5 days now and have just been using my old sim card, will this make any difference? Does anyone know?

Also does anyone know to get delivery reports on my Samsung E900? I used to have Nokia N70 and they just got sent automatically but now I don't know how to set it up!

Thank you.

no reason why you would need a new sim, the e900 is not 3g so a standard 2/2.5g sim would be fine, even if you have a 3g sim it should still work in it, maybe the advisor u spoke to mis informed you
nothing to worry about, if it works with ya existing sim then there int a problem.

i think the best thing to do would be to give them a quick ring.
say you received your new phone and sim card but are using your old one. they may need to send some settings to your phone. they usually do this with new phones.
cant see it being a major problem if you dont, if its been working fine up to now.
sorry cant help with the second one at the mo, not had a samsung for a while.

Why not just do what they say and use the new SIM card, saving you the hassle of worrying, needing to ask on a forum and having to ring them to ask?

Because if I use new sim card then I still have to ring up and register that sim card and that sounds like a long and boring process. Thanks

Just use your current SIM so long as it works why bother changing when there's no need.

a lot of people have been fooled by this, I assume you recieved a phone call from a company inferring they are calling on behalf of orange, and offering you an upgrade, all well and nice you think a nice new phone, well just wait till you get your bill, what you have in fact recieved is a totally new contract phone. meaning you now have 2 phone bills a month to pay. the same thing happened to me and I am still waiting for a response from the company that supplied the phone, Orange have offered no help in this matter at all, just advised me to send the phone back, the company involved refuse to accept the phone back as I have apparently agreed to a new contract, anyway enough of my ranting I would strongly advise that you check this out, I feel my next stop will be offcom, and the office of fair trading, and if it comes down to it BBc Watchdog may get an e mail from me

not always the case tho it does happen, they send out new sim cards as there are still alot of people with extremely old sims out there. they are trying to get everyone with a new sim card so it can rule out alot of problems with later handsets.
