I'm pretty sure we did something like this last series and I know that what I'm going to write is sick and wrong but I can't help it

I'm not a dancer, so I'm not sure what dance could be done to this but I'd really like to see it.................sorry everyone

Maybe you all have less cheesy suggestions?......................

Ever since I heard 'In These Shoes' on the Catherine Tate show and, more recently on the new Trinny and Susannah show, I've been longing for one of the couples to choose it for their Cha Cha (she doesn't like to walk, she can't ride a horse, but the way she dances, it's a scandal!).

Maybe this year?

I hope that this year the choices in music will be much better for the Latin dances.

I understand that they maybe want to use up to date chart music to keep the younger audience interested, but it is far easier to teach dance to a beginner when you have music that telegraphs the way, as strict tempo music does.

Does anyone remember David Dickinson not getting the Cha Cha beat with Camilla's choice of music? It was, if memory serves, Tom Jones' 'Sex Bomb' and poor David kept dancing on the beat!

I can't help wondering if he'd have 'got' it sooner if she'd tried with an alternative tune. You know the type of track I mean - think of Wheels Cha Cha - one where you can actually hear a beat picking out the 'two three cha cha cha' with a drum beat.

Anyway, looking forward to Saturday and to seeing if my pre-show hot picks turn out to be donkeys!

Defo cheesy, Stephanie, but, hey ho give the guy a round of applause. (and also his Californian surgeon!)

Music has been published for the first week dances on the BBC site:

Cha Cha Cha
Matt and Lilia - Satisfaction (I Can't Get No)
Artist: Rolling Stones
Year: 1965
Highest Chart Position: 1

Spoony and Ola - Kiss
Artist: Art Of Noise featuring Tom Jones
Year: 1988
Highest Chart Position: 5

Mark and Karen - Let's Get Loud
Artist: Jennifer Lopez

Ray and Camilla - Can You Feel It?
Artist: The Jackson 5
Year: 1981
Highest Chart Position: 6

Waltz
Nicholas and Nicole - Natural Woman
Artist: Aretha Franklin

Peter and Erin - The Greatest Love of All
Artist: Claudia Strezer

Jimmy and Flavia - See The Day
Artist: Girls Aloud
Year: 2005
Highest Chart Position: 9

On a separate note, I hope the order it's listed on the website isn't the order they're dancing in- it's a bit mean to make Lilia start first two years running.

I've always thought "she's a lady" by Tom Jones would be excellent cha cha music ~ has it been used on scd?

I think it has, it certainly rings a bell. I'll have to dig out my DVDs and see if I can find it!

Edit: It was Darren and Jill Cha Cha Cha (Series 2 Week 6).

I've been thinking what a nice waltz this would make since it came out!

So glad it's being used. Although in my mind it's Zoe and Ian dancing to it!

Pretty Woman was a pretty ropey ballroom choice. I remember it was Will & Hanna. Tango was it?

Yes. I could kind of see where it wanted to go, but it wasn't a great choice!

I also really hope the music choices are much better, and more appropriate this season. One of the worst last year was Darren & Lillia dancing an American Smooth to a Tamla Motown tune.

So many of the choices detracted from the dancing IMO, which was sad, as that's what the show is all about. So hopefully, if any dodgy selections are foisted on the couples, the Music Arranger/Band Leader will make a better job of it with the tempo.

'Lets Get Loud' is a great choice - really interested to see what Karen has come up with for this one.

I loved all her Latin routines with Bill Turnbull last year, one of the highlights being their Cha Cha to 'Love Potion No 5' where they kept swapping the hat. Wonderful gimmick!
