What do you get with a Toppy?

I'm interested in getting a 160GB Toppy, but just wanted to confirm what you got in the box. Obviously the following are there:

- Unit
- Remote control
- Power lead

...but what about the following?

- Remote control batteries ?
- Scart lead ?
- RF lead?

Anything else?

I've moved away to university and didn't bring too many extra leads with me. I'm hoping that, after a tube trip to Superfi in Camden, I then don't have to go back out to go shopping again.

You get all the above plus an instruction manual IIRC. Plus peace of mind that you made a good choice!

There is an updated instruction manual you can download from the Topfield website in case you have been supplied with an older version of the book.

Actually you also get a tiny loop through aerial cable to connect output from tuner 1 to tuner 2. Its length requires a sharp bend and this or its poor quality has raised questions about the advisability or replacing it with a longer one or using a splitter to feed both tuners.
I have 2 Toppys one I have replaced with a splitter and two homemade connections. The other uses the loop and it has made no difference. Perhaps just be careful bending it and enjoy your Toppy

You should also subscribe to Toppy.co.uk to keep informed of new updates, download a number of very useful Taps, and have some very knowledgeable people their to answer any questions you might have.

Agree with Richard about the loopthrough cable. Makes not a jot of difference, far as I can see (which is becoming a lot, a long way away but very little close to).

Oh, and the power lead is attached to the Toppy which is the only thing I hate about it - it's about six feet long and I want it eighteen inches long.

The SCART lead that came with my Toppy was faulty. I've only ever bought two devices which required a SCART lead and both the supplied ones were crap quality or faulty. Based on my (admittedly limited) experience, I would recommend anyone to throw away the supplied lead and buy a decent one right way. (I got mine for £10 each from Richer Sounds.) That will save you a lot of messing around.

How odd. All of mine (from Topfield) were fine. Once is unfortunate....
