2nd Best Ever Live Performance on Jools Holland's Later?
Have to say this complete re-working of Crazy by Gnarls Barkley absolutely blew me away! I thought the single was pretty good but this version nukes it into orbit. PS If I'm not allowed to post Youtube stuff, just ban me.

Why are you saying it's the 2nd best ever Later performance, what's the best? I'm biased being a massive Radiohead and REM fan, but I think both of their hour-long Later shows were classics, Radiohead being particularly amazing at that point (I think it was 2001, their peak year IMO).

Radiohead's super duper Later with Jools Holland show from around 2000/2001 blew me away. As did there performance of there there back in 2003. When Radiohead are on form, they are the best live band around.
Even when Thom Yorke tries to dance bless him ![]() http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJKTCNFHzt0 Last edited by Digimonster : 05-10-2006 at 03:54. |

You have to remember this band were still teenagers at the time, it was their first live TV performance, they had released just ONE single at this point and Jools gave them 3 songs on the show - unheard of for such a new band! Most bands would have disappointed given the circs, but they turned in an amazing and memorable performance. The rest is obviously history! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3F5emj8srAo |

I loved watching Tindersticks perform with a large string section when they were on.

RIP Chav Rock. They can't sing, they just whine in their local accent to unmelodic crashing, but thankfully its a brief fad that's passed. |

I just cant understand the whole artctic monkeys thing, they are just terrible surely, emperors new clothes music I think.
Its just the same old chug rock but with northern accents isnt it? At least groups like Razorlight and The Killers have a little originality about them. |

I don't mind the Arctic Monkeys' album but I can't see them having much future success. Soon there will be other bands taking their place.

The perfomance I always remember most was Kirsty McColl and that marching band.

Get some taste. HaHa...you're funny. Is it intentional? Last edited by SGE : 05-10-2006 at 19:18. |

Some really good stuff being posted now the childish tossers appear to have bogged off to bore some other unsuspecting board.
Particular liked the Alicia Keys performance! Not someone I would ordinarily think about experiencing but that was just great, excellent. Keep 'em coming (now it seems this forum allows youtube clips. )

Sorry to deviate from the topic slightly, but I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed Scissor Sisters and Basement Jaxx when they were on Later with Jools Holland together. Such a great party atmosphere!

My favourite would probably also be one of Radiohead's performances. Over the years I've mostly enjoyed seeing the new artists I've been listening to for the first time such as Joanna Newsom, Martha Wainwright, Raul Midon and this from Bloc Party. That's what's so good about Later... although the last series was really bad imo.

I really loved Raul Midon's performance of State of Mind last year, it just completely blew me away.
Moby - Porcelain sticks in my mind too, quite a while ago now. Plus Snow Patrol with Martha Wainwright
