He was in The Phantom Of The Opera at Her Majestys Theatre, with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman. A singing part as well, he played Monsieur Firmin. 1988.

Think he was also in the film 'Battle of Britain'as an RAF Officer.

Yeah not that that means much these days. I didnt feel too sorry for him when he was stabbed. This was a very well know tv actor in the probably countries biggest show and he goes into a gay pub, meets a much younger guy there and then takes him back to his flat to talk about acting!!! What was he thinking?? Even if he had no other intent apart from "talking about acting" he was still a very silly man.

Maybe the young man in question actually thought they were going to talk about acting and hit out when he realised other things were on John's mind!

Very true but again this proves how very silly Mr Savident was, he must have known picking up a stranger in a gay bar, might just have got into the papers. He didnt deserve the attack of course but I still think he behaved very stupidly.
