I'm in the market for a 32" LCD HD Ready tv, but which one? Ive spent hours and hours looking at different models but just cant decide. The top of my budget is £800 inc delivery. I currently have sky, but may invest in sky HD in the future (when it becomes more affordable), So I need at least 1 HDMI socket. Will I need another one If HD-DVD becomes mainstream? I also own a xbox 360, so I want a TV which connects to this and shows to its full potential.Since I have sky I dont need a built in digital tuner, but looks like most the decent models have one built in.

Also im a bit lost as to what the " 720p and 1080i" mean, and do I need a TV that show 1080i? Will this make my xbox 360 games look EVEN better?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

MML

We've just bought one of these in a 26" and it's superb!

The dealer we bought it from are one of the best we've ever dealt with. We phoned them and ordered on Tuesday and the TV was delivered on Thursday, complete with an extra high-quality scart lead. Excellent price, as well!

JUST ADDING: It has two HDMI sockets.

Ive narrowed it down to these models, can anybody give me a "best buy"?

Panasonic TX32LXD60

Toshiba 32WLT66

THE ABOVE 2 ARE JUST OVER £700, THE 2 BELOW ARE VIRTUALLY £800, ARE THEY WORTH THE EXTRA £100.

JVC LT-32DX7

SONY KDL-32S2010

Thanks in advance

Rich.

My personal choice would be the Panny & I would stay clear of anything Toshiba (due to my personal experiences). At least with the Panasonic you should receive good support if anything goes wrong. Which dealer are you buying from because there lies a whole new set of problems if anything goes wrong.
JVC tend to be quite good units and often share an uncanny resembelance to Panasonic

I have a Hyundai Q321, £615 delivered at Novatech.
It has a Samsung panel, the same as many premium brands use. The speakers are also detachable, so it has a very thin bezel. Looks absolutely amazing on the wall

Picture is brilliant, and has 1:1 pixel mapping (important if you intend to hook up a computer).

I have the Panny TX32LXD52 - the immediate predecessor of the 60 (and a bloody sight more expensive but thats technology for you ) Very pleased with it indeed. I do understand the latest Sonys are extremely good as well.

I've had one of these since the world cup. I love it, great picture, great colours. Loads of connection options, and HD material looks great when fed via a monitor cable from my PC.

I'm pleased with the picture quality on my TX32LXD60. The audio is another story - there is a high pitched whine from time to time, particularly when there are on screen dissolves to black. Changing the picture setting to dynamic helps but doesn't eliminate the problem altogether. Any one got any ideas on how to resolve?

If anyone is just looking for a "toe in the water" trial of HD LCD then this is the perfect "in". Apart from anything else (if you forget it is LCD and you forget it has HDMI) it's a 32" telly for £399 - you'd be very hard pressed to find a plain old CRT at that size-price, let alone an LCD or an HDMI-LCD!

(BTW while branded "Technosonic" this TV at Woolies most definitely IS the Thomson 32". I'd downloaded and read it's PDF manual the other day and can confirm that it's identical to the printed manual in the "Technosonic" box)

The panny seems my fav out of the 4.

Ive been told the Panasonic TX32LXD60 does not have vga?

I'm not intending to connect my pc to my tv, so does the fact the panasonic doesnt not have vga still an issue?

The main reason i'm buying a HD ready Tv is for my xbox 360!

I read on another forum that some OP's had returned the Panasonic because of sound issues and backlight leakage ?

Is 32" the main criteria or the £800 price?

My Dad has a Toshiba 32WLT66 and thats great, as a result I bought the 37WL66 (37" version, but no freeveiw built in) for £829 (play.com, delivery was a nightmare), and thats pretty good!

Had a 32WLT66 delivered on monday and I am more than happy with it. Easy to install and use, colour very good (even the blacks) and sound is good.

It even looks good with an SD broadcast and XBOX 360 is just out of this world.

Can you guess that I like it?

I ended up buying a Samsung LE32R72BX from currys on line. Does anybody on here have any experience of that model? Still waiting for it to come though. I sold my xbox 360 to a work colleague, as I'm going to buy a PS3 is march. I will just have to play FM2007 on my pc until then!
