The problem is partly because you are now watching the same channels as before, but I assume now on a much bigger TV.

The resolution of the programmes is the same as ever, so consequently when you watch it on a larger display you start to notice the imperfections in, and general low picture quality of, your average satellite broadcast.

Changing things like a Scart cable is going to make no difference to this.

You might try increasing the sharpness, but that itself can introduce other unwelcome artifacts.

However, on a good source such as a DVD, or of course HDTV material, your larger TV should look great.

If you have a DVD player then you might try using one of the THX set up calabration programmes that is on some disks (like Star wars) as this should help you get the optimum settings for your TV and DVD.

This should also improve the Sky picture, but it will never make a silk purse out of a sow's ear...

If you had a CRT before and have switched to plasma then you have made a mistake in expecting SD pix to be as good as before.

Hi

Make sure you have enabled "RGB" on your Sky box via the services menu as well as your screen ?? - you never know how little things like that catch so many people out !

Alot may also depend on the quality you are getting through your box, Ive seen some great PQ on SD throught our Sky+ box & some crappy ones too.

Just watched the last 45mins of Star Wars SD on a sky movie channel & the PQ was excellent was as good as our previous 28" CRT TV but on a 42" Plasma.

Obviously its sport that suffers more on SD than anything else.
