Tasi, I hope your right but I see to remeber that las tyear it was pink and fluffy, but by the end of it,harmless quotes were being taken out of context and the judges were being slated espacally Arlene. (I know to my cost).

I agree however you did say younger members in your Post, Im 15 and think directing it at the younger age group is a bit harsh, I guess there was some who went over the top last year but "We" are not a group we are all individuals.

I do agree however I remember when Patsy got voted out and James stayed and we all got bombarded with "I hate him, I hate her" Business. Just remember all the dancers and celebrities are People and May even read these threads so be nice

*Cough* James and Camilla should have won *Cough*

Anyway lets keep it friendly and enjoy SCD!

I just support the dancing (though I can't bear Anton) I just dont read the appreciation thread for him and grit my teeth. But there are alot of obsessive fans about (mainly for the pro dancers) who do drift into hate mode when the one they support looks in danger.

The show is far more enjoyable when you dont overly support one person

Hi Gracie,

As you know, biological age is not always the best measure in deciding whether someone is grown up. "Devil or angel, Gracie" but only a soft drink will be served.

Hiya Stinkie's Dad how have you been over the last year? Look forward to catching up with you after a glass of sherbert in the pink room.
Ps. How's Stinky?

I have also just ploughed through the Vanilla thread. I think I will stay away from it in future, it is a bit pointless.

I did post on there and ask for love not war and for them to be polite, wont do any good if last year was anything to go by.

There are certain people who I avoid and they are mostly on there it seems. I love the SCD shows and used to like the forums until they got personal and nasty, hope it doesnt get like that again.

If we are to have a constructive intelligent and adult discussion then we need to allow free will .So sometimes people will dislike YOUR favourite couple that does not mean we should hate someone and attack them....but we do need to look at issues that arise and the powers that are higher than us will ban anyone who is bitter and twisted

Otherwise we end up with a number of pointless threads saying I love (insert faves name). If you love them so much start up a fansite or go to their official web site and moon over them......

Mind you I do hate Brucie alter ego Cyrup De Fig it nearly distracted me from Oh Lah Lah the partner of Spoony...shave the dome Brucie be Bald and Proud

I agree. I have my own opinion which comes from a dancers point of view. I may not necessarily like the publics' favourite (eg christopher Parker - God love him he was enthusiastic, but he was pants. The public loved him!). I like to think that I will remain unswayed by emotive back stories and will concentrate on who gives the best performance.

I know that other people will disagree with me, but that's OK. I can enter into an arguement, actually I hesitate to use that word, maybe discussion is better, with someone who likes a different couple to me. I can discuss style, manner, technique and personality without having to resort to name calling or slagging off the person I am talking to.

i only ask that they do the same.

I don't expect you are talking about the Ballroom Bill thread, He has nothing whatsoever to do with SCD anymore, or am I seen as bitter and twisted for mentioning it BTW I do agree with your post!

agree Seymour cant see why there are still threads for bill or colin who I liked last year but its over so move on - each to his own I suppose. I like DS and post in a few of the forums but these obsessive threads do get in the way of some genuine news and stuff. Thank god for the cool blue!!!

coulndt agree more Thess with your post - I watch SCD for the dancing and always hope the best wins irrespective of who they are so as yet have no faves until I see the girls dance properly. (though loathe Anton so find it hard to be objective at times)

Here we go.....

Bill is/will still be appearing on ITT.

Many of the regulars on Ballroom Bill have met and it's a nice way to keep in contact with each other regularly.

One of us goes to Karen's dance classes. And more of us go to her social functions.

I really don't see why it's such a big deal that it's there. Along with James's and Colin's.

And how is it 'in the way', it's up to every individual where and how often they post.

Everybody has different interests.

Well said, Nancy. SCD fans make up a very broad church. Some are just discovering dance, some are following their favourite celebrity, some enjoy serious analysis of the dancing. None of these are right or wrong. The professional dancers now have their own following, too, which they have earned. The forum is big enough for everybody.

The Ballroom Bill thread is still relevant, and obviously very popular judging from how often it gets to the top of the page. The good thing about the forum being web based is that you don't have to use up bandwidth downloading unwanted messages. If you don't want to participate in a particular thread you don't have to. I'm sure nobody would seriously be upset about the fact that a thread existed.

I am actually surprised that there isn't a technical analysis thread. I would be quite interested to read experienced dancers and judges like Bendymixer and Peach UK give their opinions.

I think live and let live has to be our overriding philosophy.

That is the simple fact.

I enjoy reading most threads, especially analysis of the dancing, the shows, and about the professional dancers, although I may not contribute a lot to some as I'm not as knowledgable about dance technically as some people, I just know what I like.

Anyway, everybody's entitled to a little corner to talk about whatever they wish.

Well said nancy and like you too would love to hear more unbiased points of view from the more technical of our posters.

Everyone of our professionals has a different style, love 'em or hate 'em, egosentrics or not. After all said and done, if they weren't different, the show would be pretty boring. Without the losers, there would never be a winner.

I must have been asleep - I thought we all got on quite well last year...

It's probably a good idea to remind us all to be civil and not make things personal, though. We are the fluffiest, pinkest board on Digital Spy, after all

Perhaps our SCD3 male celebs just may surprise us all as am sure that a certain Mr Martin is putting on his dancing pumps again in this series.

Hear hear! Ballroom Bill is BALLROOM Bill.. not Breakfast Bill. No need to say anymore.... him being on ITT on the very first show is evidence enough that he's still connected to the show.

Libby I'm honoured you would be interested to hear my opinions on the more technical matters... perhaps week 1 is a little too soon to analyse with fear of sounding like Craig or Arlene but perhaps I'll become more technical in future weeks. I'm just soooo thrilled that Strictly is back again and is so popular. I was in tears on Saturday because someone had to leave so I don't hold out much hope for the rest of the series! When someone wants to stay and learn more about the art that I love so much it just hurts when they are told to leave. Ballroom is MAGICAL! I have probably said this before... but it is absolutely MAGICAL. When you start dancing it... you fall in love with it. I have to admit I love the Ballroom part of Ballroom the most... when else can you be a Princess? I deduced from an early age that I was the wrong age to marry a real English Prince so I have to dream in Ballroom instead. Any Princes want to come dance with me? hehe

Oh and back on the subject of the thread.... I am in agreement that avoiding threads/posters that you don't enjoy/like/agree with is the best option. There is plenty of space for us all and plenty of corners to relax in and if your corner isn't there.... you can make it I think that persistant posting on the same "hate" subject is irritating and hard not to respond to as it is probably the person posting KNOWS they are provoking an atmosphere and will continue to until someone gets upset... but if the person posts only once then leaves it...then ok... I can walk way. (at least that is the plan!)

Happy Series 4 everyone!

I think a few folk forget that this forum is used year around and threads such as Bill's Brendan's Karen's etc go far beyond talking about their appearance on the shows.
There's always updates on their classes and public appearance. Bill for instance has been running for charity this year.
Surely if we don't like a thread we can just skip it? No need to make a big thing is there?
innocent.

I too would love to think that it wouldn't develop into there being hate this or that person threads , but I would give it about two weeks max' until the first start to appear.

I agree totally with Nancy , Peach , Libby and Tasi
( hopefully i havn't left anyone out )

I have been going to Karens classes since January and to say it has changed my life would not be an understatement .

I have become much fitter , am enjoying a new hobby and meeting new people both on and off the forum .

To say that the Ballroom Bill thread is no longer relevant , is just missing the point .

Karen regularly talks about Bill at her class.

Bill has been in contact with our thread re: his charitable work and regularly reads us as does Karen .

Finally Bill is hosting Karens Gala Christmas Ball this year , so obviously that is proof that the BB thread is still topical and of interest to those who want to read it
