Hecky Thump, he appeared on the first episode of ITT, therefore he deserves mentioning, he partnered Karen, who frankly performed miracles with him (injury, workload and let's be honest age), so this early on he deserves mentioning even if it is only to compare to Mark after week 1, which I will say now if Mark makes the progress and Karen uses his athleticsim in the choreography then watch out Ray and Spoony.

Of course it is relevant to mention Bill, heck he was the star of last year and certainly I am not going to complain about his fans remenising until they find their new favourite. AND especially if Mark does not do justice to the tnder care and skill Karen.

I know I may live to regret this but I have just been re-reading this thread and I am not sure why it seems to be snowballing downhill into a conflict. Personally, I did not particularly like Karen and Bill last series (I felt a bit bludgeoned by all the love and reacted negatively) but if their loyal fans want to have an ongoing thread to stay connected and chat to one another, I don't see anything wrong with that. In fact, good on you! You clearly get alot out of it and have made some good friends.

But there is also nothing wrong with a few people posting their views that they want things which are more current. There were only one or two of these posts and from what I could see they were expressed pretty mildly. Maybe if we could all be just a little bit more robust, we could weather the differences of opinion and keep a bit of lively banter going.

Okay. I have thrown down the gauntlet and as I seem to be advocating more robustness, I suppose I have to start by exposing myself to the slings and arrows. Am wearing suit of armour, just in case.

Brucie's lame comments are totally endearing and part of why we love him and SCD. I suggets you return to BB. As the show itself is unbelievably coarse, i am sure its' forums are too. That is not what SCD is about. Who is with me on this?

Fraid can't support you. Brucie is dire. Wish they could get rid of him.

( I've never watched BB so don't know what that comment is all about.)

someone on another forum I post on went to the first show last week and raved about how GOOD Brucie was, they didnt like him before but do now. Said how professional he was off air and friendly to everyone.

I don't think SCD would be the same without him

I would just like to say to all the people who don't like the Ballroom Bill threads and all that we have only just started this series therefore none of the celebs this year have that much of a following...

Don't forget that most people on here like to talk to each other during the breaks in the series and if that means talking about their fav celeb from last series then let that be...

Why do the Ballroom Bill thread and others like it really matter? It's just a couple of threads, for goodness sake. The vast majority of threads on the front page are current ones and I don't begrudge the Bill fans having their little place. They're not exactly taking over the whole board and no one is forced to look at it if they don't want too.

SCD is a Saturday night light entertainment show and therefore is about being fun - this isn't a serious dancing competition. It's great to see the good dancers but that's not the be all and end all. If you can't have the fun threads and the chat, quite frankly, what's the point? If you try to make everything serious you're missing the ethos of the show entirely.

Why would anyone get bothered by the so called 'obsessive' threads? I personally can't see how they're hurting anyone.

Sorry, afraid I can't agree about the BB forums being coarse. I have never had any bother on there, and find that on the whole you are talking to like minded Adults.

Stating an opinion as fact does not make it so and who is "we" anyway? BF has many detractors inside and outside this forum as I'm sure you've noticed.

I suggest that I will continue to split my DS time between both forums............irrespective of your suggestions.

There is stupidity and nastiness to be found in the BB forum - as in the show itself. I was simply drawing a comparison between here and there to make the point that IMO there is relatively little negative stuff to be found in this forum and, if anything, it goes too far the other way.

Who are you to define what SCD is about? I like it because it's camp and cheesy and an interesting contrast to the very tabloidy and not talent-based BB. However, I don't idolise the contestants or dancers or presenters and, within forum rules and guidelines, I won't be dictated to.

For goodness sake!!!!!!!!!!!! The prog's not a week old yet and read all this carping above!

'You said'
'I didn't'
'Go to another forum'
'Why should I'

IT'S A REALITY SHOW. Everyone can state an opinion and have that opinion respected if not agreed with. This thread was all about getting along without all this sniping!
If you want to argue, start a thread about it and everyone will be happy.

I find the best way is to ignore them and just carry on posting as normal under their snits.

Don't know if I'm really qualified to comment 'cos I only dips in and out to add me twopenneth when the programme is on - but lots kudos to the brave people who keep the forum moving when others have left! If folk want to post in threads which are still trucking them good for them. Threads evolve anyway so what may have started out as an appreciation thread may now be a general place to chat.

And, if you spend a lot of time on the BB board then you'll know that they have arguements going back years, and threads about old HM's too - just start a thread about Kate Lawler or Alex and sit back and watch the fur fly!

Sorry - but really ?
I seem to remember lots of comments about the C4 forums shutting early or being down, leading to an influx of younger posters.

I just went and had a look.

Oh dear.

I did sort of think when this thread started....about not having any hate....that it was like sods law that it would start just by mentioning not having any hate......

To be fair when Brendan Cole is involved there isn't usually much love...

We seem to have crossed wires, I was not talking about C4 forums, You wouldn't catch me on there, the majority are still in nappies imo I did mean DS:BB.

And what has happened here is exactly what happens when people make threads or posts which are perceived as dictating to others as to how they should post.

DS has a rigorous approach to dealing with infringements of its terms and conditions and if there are posts which anyone feels breaches those terms and conditions then there is a 'report post' facility.

I find it interesting that you started a thread called 'Let's not have any 'I hate' this year eh?' and then end up telling people that if they want to argue to start a thread about it.............

This dictating how to post ethic began last year and had the effect of alienating posters who are not into 'hating' anyone but maybe took a slightly different view of the show to the fluffy, gooey, slobbery posters who felt it necessary to swamp the board with pink custard.

SCD is an extremely popular reality show which attracts a very wide audience who have a very varied agenda when it comes to commenting on DS. I feel everyone has to 'live and let post' no matter if it be 'I hate' or 'ascerbic irreverence'.

After all, it's only a TV programme.

Kaos: I just trawled through the pages of Brendan wondering what had made the thread so popular today... then came in here and saw this post from you and it made me laugh!
I did wonder when the back and forth posts would stop in "brendan"..glad they finally did! Probably at bedtime for the other poster! (Oh darn should I have said that?) Sorry!

OK I am quite new here and therefore feel like I should tread really carefully don't want to upset anyone and make myself really unpopular but!

May I just say something?

It is a TV show, and like all good TV shows you need a good mix of characters to make them exciting. So we'll have the good, the bad, and the ugly...

Everyone has different tastes and it is great that way - what is the fun if everyone just likes one particluar celeb/pro?

OK I think Craig and Arlene can be really mean but would it not be dull if all 4 of the judges are all fluffy and cuddly like Len (aww... Len... *melting into a gooey mess*)?

So although I do have my preference like everyone else (I lusted after Anton for the last year and frankly fancy all the male pros and think Lilia is fantastic and Ola is jusy oooh lala) I do also LOVE the other dancers/celebs/judges in different ways.

Bring on the drama! Bring on the variety! And I shall embrace all the differences in dance styles, personalities and nasty comments.

Long live SCD!!
