What's an Emo?
And why is there a 'war' against them?

I think real EMO happend with The Misfits in the late 80's in American but started out underground as Gothic Punk. But since that time it's wen't more mainstrem with band like AFI and FFAF.And now it has got bigger with band like MY Chemcail Romance and Fall Out Boys and ever young Kerrang reader.

You've started a topic that will most likely start a debate.
Basically, Emo is a different style like Chav. It's stereotype is drainpipe jeans, eyeliner, long straight hair, spiked at the back. Other stereotypes suggest they listen to music about suicide, they cut themseleves and cry about life all the time. It's commonly mixed up with depression by people without a clue. In my opinion? Emo is just another stupid label for everyone to hate. |

I always had The Killers down as being part of that emo thing.
Regardless, all emo and emo-related stuff seems to just be absolute tripe. It's an idiotic sub-culture for pseudo-Goths who like to be considered 'deep' and 'intellectual' when what they really like are jumped-up boy bands pretending to play guitars. |

Emo = creature of dark plumage with skinny legs. Has penchant for sticking head in sand when trouble approaches.
Oh, wait..... |

I'll admit I like emo music but as far as I know, I'm not an emo myself. Maybe elements...

Contains swearing. But that's an emo. They also like dinosaurs that go rawr, claim to have ADHD and say 'OMGZ shiny things!!!1.' |

I thought Emo was Big Bird's friend?
![]() I don't think he should have started his own genre of music though. As Karl Rove said, it's like a more moody, whingey version of Busted. Last edited by The Chief : 09-10-2006 at 17:58. |

Emo= Rubbish plastic punk bands containing scrawny little kids with a great ability to mime whilst doing a passable impression of Air Guitar. Lead Singer must sound as though his balls haven't dropped yet.

Fashion wise they are like goths, indie - rockers and punk rocker mashed together. They tend to wear glasses with black frames, have dark hair, wear skinny jeans and dark eyeliner. They tend to be "intellectual" and more in touch with their feelings than most guys (I am saying guys cos most emo people I have come across are guys). They are sometimes ambiguous about their sexuality. I wouldn't say there is a war against them but, they are disliked for basically being who they are - emotional and in touch with their feelings. |

About three years ago we called them Grungers didn't we? Or is that baggy jeans and depressing music?

You can find EMO kids hanging about at Malls or at Skate parks.
