SCD Audience Too Loud

As a pair of mogs, Me & Mrs T have very sensitive ears the thing that annoys us is the audience whooping & hollering while the "second rate orchestra" murders some nice music, would be nice if we could hear it tho, why have the producers reduced this show to what basically resembles a football match with sequins

The only thing that annoys me is the panto style booing of the judges - especially Craig who is admittedly harsh but 9/10 correct. And at least he nearly always mentions constructive things they can work on!

That is the problem with tv today, any live audience have to be able to convince the viewers they are having the best time of their lives..... ever. And to most tv directors that seems to have them doing animal impressions till the host has to virtually threaten them with a gun.

Remember there is always a 'warm up' act and some clipboard clutcher will have had a word before the show starts about how they want the audience to react which in one is 'over'.

Totally agree, they do a marvellous job as do the singers.

The audience however should be gagged, I hate all that bellowing. Fair enough if they want to applaud a special step or sequence, but there is no reason for all that costant shouting.

Also to continue the rant, I do wish they wouldn`t shout whilst the judges are speaking, as some of us would like to hear the judges comments, even if we don`t always agree!!

I do find the booing a bit panto. But it's what the producers ask for.

I also don't like it when you can't hear what the judges are saying. I almost missed that Craig said he liked Louisa in the mambo becuase of all the cheering for Emma. But the director must have, becuase he cut to Louisa. That's how I know who Craig's other fave was.

Because of these "luvvie" types love to have the audience sounding like demented seals........

It's a bit annoying when you can't hear the judges comments...but sometimes it's a good thing to drown them out!!

Seriously though, I quite like it as it gives the show a real atmosphere which just adds something to the programme for me - it also reflects real dancing comps where the crowd tend to get very involved.

I know a lot of it is manipulated by warm-up routines, but also I think many who go are just massive fans and get genuinely excited! (They must love the show...if you didn't you would have given up trying to get tickets with that stupid BBC system!)

Don't they just hire them from rent-a-mobs-r-us? Must be going cheap with Big Brother off air. Bruce probably whips them up into a frenzy off camera. They will be rioting by November.

Sorry their was loads of cheering for Emma and Darren mainly from us
The producers do want you to boo yeah, and clap what ever but to cheer for Darren and Lilia is easy

No need to rent them. The free tickets are like gold dust, plus friends and family of celebs, dancers, judges, crew etc get comps.
I'm afraid BF is far too important to do his warm up! He hasn't done it for years, unless he choses to do a few minutes of course.
What I found when I went, was that the celebs and dancers are very nervous. A palpable nervousness which, as each week goes by gets more noticable. The audience cheer each performer to show their support. I'm told that it's a wonderful feeling when shaking in your shoes to hear the cheering and know folk are on your side.
The live orchestra sounds great if you are there as do the singers.

Yes that's true, although it tends to be along the lines of "come on number forty seven!" at top volume! And mostly at amateur level.

I do wish they'd pipe down for the judges comments. I also often miss bits they've said and also on more than one occasion a judge has been going to say something crucial but then turns to say something to a heckler, only to turn back around to find that Bruce has gone on to the next judge.

But quid pro quo, it would be nice if, when a judge needs to say how awful the dancer was, they could also find something good to say. Len is quite good about that, if he critiques something he will say how it can be corrected or will point out something that the dancer can work on. The others need to follow suit.

Len is actually the only judge who's opinion I value and I found my own scores on the night, commensurate with his.

He usually does a song at SCD. Usually Come Dancing from the SCD album, or Saturday Night Is The Lonliest Night Of The Week.

You're right it is louder for amateur comps, but having said that I was at Bournemouth last Jan and all you could hear were people screming "Come on Ricci!" For Riccardo Cocchi (sorry I'm bound to have spelt that wrong) and then for Malitowski and Leunis in the final! (who were robbed of the title, as they so should have won it!!)

That Riccardo is a popular bloke, although not surprising really all things considered!!

Sorry, back to Strictly..yes Len's wonderful, but he has been very strict and in places quite harsh in US version Dancing with the Stars!

The orchestra are good, no question, but the singers do have a tendency to massacre some of the better songs...

I didn't think the orchestra was as good compaired to previous years, especially the violins during Erin's and Peter's dance. Bruce didn't introduce Laurie Holloway as he has done in the past. Somehow I felt it was a different conductor and orchestra.

Well spotted Betty. Laurie was not present. Probably becuase he's on Parky (which happens to air on Saturdays, though it is not live).

Thinks thats partly down to the musical arranger to make the songs fit the dance, and they love doing the wobbly vocals (TTC hides in his armour plated catbox)

Wobbly vocals ... grrr...
