Another connection issue
I have just brought a 5.1 suround sound system
it has 5 speakers. And the sub has all the controls on it I want to connect it to my pc and my tv, the sub/amp has two inputs, dvd, and aux. The aux input is just a stereo left and right. The dvd input has 6 inputs one for each speaker but my tv only has a stereo output. so is there a lead you can use that has a 2 to 6 connvertor. or is there something else i need. thanx daz

The DVD input (6 sockets) is designed for connection to DVD players that have a built-in 5.1 decoder and 6 corresponding output sockets. The DVD input won't decode surround from the input signals as it assumes that's already been done. You could connect the TV stereo output to the 2 L&R channels of the DVD input I suppose but you won't get surround out of it.
You probably need an audio switchbox so that you can connect both the TV and the PC to the Aux input. |

Im no expert so just a suggestion; If your amp has prologic II try connecting the TV to amp with the stereo connections. This should create surround effects from the stereo signal.
Unless you have Sky+ or HD there is no true 5.1 Dolby Digital output from any TV platform as far as I know so that is probably the best 'surround sound' you will get from TV. Richard Last edited by Richard46 : 10-10-2006 at 11:44. |
