I've just been watching The Hits (358 Sky) and I was suprised to see Acquiesce in their most requested chart. The video doesn't have the band in just lost of Japanese people imitataiting the band. Quite bizzare.

Are they releasing Acquiesce as a single? Or is it simply a promo to promote their upcoming Greatest Hits? Why Acquiesce and the strange video? They've already released Acquiesce as a promo to promte Familiar to Millions (with live video) so why again with the same song

They're releasing it as a single, which has 4 tracks so it's ineligible to chart.

Apparently, Oasis didn't do the video because they were in protest of the Greatest Hits.

According to the NME they were supposed to be re-recording this, but just watching the vid and it's the Some Might Say b-side version

So even less reason to buy the "Greatest Hits"

Does this mean they won't take the cash they earn off it

Of course not. I'm not too sure if Oasis really are opposed to this release anymore. They seem to be promoting the fact that they don't want to promote it which is a sneaky way of promoting the actual album.

My wife is in that video, somewhere in the crowd (you can see her hair at one point!)..

An email went out to fans asking for people to send in their photos and a "lucky few" were picked to come down to the shoot at the Electric Ballroom in Camden (luckily just round the corner from us, but many people came down from various parts of the of the country, I know of at least one person who went from Northern Ireland) and were told to dress as if they were going to an Oasis gig in 1995.

Pretty much everyone who excitedly made thier way to the shoot weren't too pleased to find that the video was supposed to be set in Japan so they were all told to stay at the back so their faces wouldn't be seen behind the Japanese extras, and worse still after this "selection process" seeing people randomly allowed to wander in from the streets of Camden.

Not only that, but while that was all going on, Noel & Liam themselves were just down the road watching Kasabian (no doubt the whole row over this album is the reason they don't feature).

So, nice concept for the video, but the way it was made was really badly handled.

Fair play to them. There's a good article in Uncut where they comment about each track. I saw them live a couple of years ago at Watford, 1500 capacity hall. The sound was horrendous, but their presence was absolutely incredible.
