Not surprised, although I think Justin leaving the band is due more to poor album sales, than him not wanting a rock and roll lifestyle.
I thought the band would have had a few more hits before their 15 minutes of fame were up. That whole glam rock gimmick shortened their shelf life.

i've noticed quite alot of vitriol about this...bit unneccesary i think. can't see why the darkness upset some people so much!
they were good fun for a while but the second album showed they were a bit of a one trick pony. always liked justin though, hope he gets through it OK. |

This news has really made my day.
Thanks for sharing. I always disliked The Darkness with a passion. Especially the singer. |

Good news!
Can't stand the guy or the band - yet another over rated fad from a few years ago. People were acting like they were the second-coming of Queen. |

I love The Darkness, I bet most of the people in here couldn't even write a tune let alone the quality rock n' roll songs The Darkness produced.
This news annoys me, just proves that the world is sh*t. Go back to your Pussycat Dolls albums all you haters |

I like the darkness too, it's a shame he's left. Let's hope the bassist, who is to become vocalist, is a good front person too.

I like the Darkness and I like Justin Hawkins. He's a great frontman. I'm really disappointed to hear this.

Blimey - that's what happens when the Brits fall over themselves to big up a one album band
I don't hate them, but I did hate the hype around them, never thought they deserved it - the songs were average in my opinion. |

I liked them too and was disappointed when they didn't follow 'Permission to Land' with a better album. 'Love is only a Feeling' was an excellent song and I really expected more from them. I thought it was just a matter of time, but without Justin it won't be the same. Last edited by Jan001 : 13-10-2006 at 09:27. |

This news annoys me, just proves that the world is sh*t. Go back to your Pussycat Dolls albums all you haters The Darkness were more cheesy than an over ripe lump of stilton. I like all kinds of rock music from The Who to The Clash to Red Hot Chilli Peppers to Sepultura. The Darkness were not a good band, their songs were not good. They were arrogant, just as commercial as the pussycat dolls and no great loss. |

According to the Star, Justin will release a solo album before Christmas. Needless to say, the rest of the band aren't too happy. Seems that his drug & booze addiction wasn't the real reason he quit the Darkness afterall then.

I've been a fan of The Darkness of a good few years and have defended them through thick and thin so I'm quite sad at moment.
However, the band did say they would continue (according to BBC News). I would be very interested to see how that works. I think the Darkness might lose their glam-rock style and become a more heavier and darker band. You see, it was Justin who wore catsuits and his attitude was completely in your face. However, Dan, Ritchie and Ed don't dress like that and are much quieter and seem at times out of place with Justin's way of thinking. Does anyone else agree? |

Perhaps more will be heard from both him and/or the band in a few months |
