Ben......WOW
My dad thinks Ben remides him of Michael Bolton.......lol
I dunno but i think he's got such a great chance of winning.......... He's not that steriotypical groomed singer look...... He's something new and fresh which has never appeared on the X Factor before............ I so want him to win.......... Anna.XXXXXXXX |

Yes, he is good and I can see the similarity between him and Michael Bolton. He has a great voice. Can't see him winning though for some reason, I could be wrong.

Yep, Ben for me did show he is deserving favourite I like Robert too, but he over reacts too much. I would of said Dionne second but given the results it looks like Ben has a great chance really.
To put it this way it take a fair bit for a white guy to impress me doing motown, it is the domain of african americans in reality, but Ben really did take it on. Compared to like of 'take that' who really slaughtered some soul records. Last edited by andy1973 : 14-10-2006 at 22:26. |

He's different from the usual stereotypes and I love his voice. He's one of my favourites and I can't wait to hear him next week

Loved him. By far the best and really does have stage presence. Almost hope he doesn't win because he will be more his own man who can release his own material that way!

Do you think he's wearing false teeth, because if he is, they look so obvious & not nice set of dentures.
Also he really has very very thin upper lips which makes him look like a witch with that hook nose of his & the hair completes the image. Just my observation. Last edited by andallthatjazz : 16-10-2006 at 13:51. |

To my surprise, I find that Ben is possibly my least favourite act now. Some people say that he sings with emotion, but where they see/hear emotion, I just see/hear a formula that he applies to every song regardless of appropriateness. 'Bring It On Home to Me' really impressed, and it worked with 'Maggie May' too, but 'Tracks of My Tears' is a song that requires a degree of subtlety and tenderness in the delivery, rather than a barking out till the veins in your temples stand out. It's just not that kind of song. It seems to me that Ben has no real feel for the lyrics, the emotion, or the mood of the particular song he is singing.
I think many viewers (and I was perhaps initially guilty of this too) are in danger of getting carried away with the fact that Ben is a different type of singer from those that we are used to seeing on The X Factor, to the point of attributing greater talent to him than he really possesses. If you took him out of The X Factor and put him in with a whole bunch of other singers from the genre to which he belongs, I don't think he would stand out. It's early days yet, and I'm still open to being convinced by Ben that he is more than a barking-by-numbers rock singer after all, but at the moment I am a bit disappointed in him. Best vocal of the evening by a mile, followed by Anthony from Eton Road. Last edited by FrankieB : 16-10-2006 at 21:17. |

I really liked him until his audition in the London hotel where he shouted so much he was beetroot in colour. Not much improvement on Saturday imo. |

I find him one dimensional and his style will eventually grate. He is Sharon's Tabby, and this year either a girl or group will win (even if they arent the best act on the show as Shayne winning showed)
