It is a Rod Stewart theme next week, the judges confirmed it on the Xtra Factor

arrrgggg i hate these theme nights, i dont care if a singer is an all rounder as long as they are good at what really drives them, what their true passion is, the joy the belief of what they are doing.
how will i ever know what im buying into if im listening to a singer forced to perform a genre that they dislike or would never do in the real world
FF's sake i wouldnt buy Rod Stewart stuff so why would i what a copy of his old stuff.
grrrrrrrrrrr i can go along with an odd night like swing or christmas, but rehashing these oldies just so they can promote their albums for the christmas rush is ruining the format

What songs does that entail? Maggie May and things from that kind of era?

Will be a tough week as Rod only has two or three decent songs.

He recently released American Songbook though didn't he, of all the American classics so they have those to choose from as well.

This is what they do in the American and French versions - all a luvvie fest with endless covers of the guest artists songs... would rather the singers and mentors got together and they sang something that suits their voices to make it fair amd watchable..the girls won't do well with Rod songs at all..

(in France they had Madonna - goood for the girls but the boys really struggled..)

I wonder if the same guests on AI will pop up on The X factor considering XF is now following their formula. AI had Rod Stewart, Queen, the blind opera singer and a few others, I'm just trying to think if Lionel was on there too but I think I might be getting confused with Fame Academy when he chose to sing with Lemar.

I hope they pick decent songs and not all that American Songbook rubbish. Had enough of that on American Idol.

I thought that Simon said to Ben that it WAS all from his more recent swing type stuff, they will be promoting Rods new CD after all, not his old stuff.

I bet Ray will do one from the songbook.

In fact it will be a good week for Ben, Ray and whomever gets to sing The First Cut is the Deepest. I think Dionne would be best at that.

I'm imagining who'll do 'Do You Think I'm Sexy'

No he said that they were doing songs that Rod Stewart had recorded, I believe he has covered alot of songs so there will be alot to choose from.

its Rod Stewart week, and they have to be songs that he's recorded. Simon confirmed it on Xtra factor with the lovely Ben last night.

But im sure that Simon mumbled something about the more recent covers near to the end of the chat. It would bring it in line with what they did on American Idol too.

Look out for the repeats as Im pretty sure its NOT a Rod Stewart total recordings choice.
Could you imagine the girls, the Mc D's, Ashley and Ray being able to do much with a Rod the Rocker track?

I think it will be more of a swing theme.

If they have to have themes why not just have themes like love, anger, colours, animals where they can pick any artiste but still follow a theme

I agree with a lot of others why would Ben want to do Barbra Streisand for example

or Kerry do Bon Jovi

Is Abba night happening at all? Remember how much of a disaster that was on Pop Idol?

I really hope they do a Queen night and also a 50's rock and roll night.

Maybe one week they could have a Gareth Gates theme - Apparently the comeback is starting soon with a documentary.

....EVERYONE will have to sing Unchained Melody and GG could pick his favourite

... but seriously, I hope they do a Michael Jackson one
