I've just received my copy in the post today and have got to say that the special features in this are amazing!! Two discs, DTS, DD5.1 and many languages and subtitles. What more can you ask. I think some of these film studios should take a leaf out of disneys book and release these fantastic special editions like disney has with tarzan and now dinosaur!!

yeah - but look at the complete mess up they made of the R2 Ultimate Toy Box (& R2 Fantasia Anthology as well from what i have heard)
on the whole though, all of Disney's R1 collectors editions are fantastic - I have A Bug's Life & Dinosaur R1 and Tarzan & Ultimate Toy Box R2 Disney Collectors Editions and they are all incredible DVD sets - the Ultimate Toy Box is good but the fact that there are problems with the third disc for a lot of people and that there are significant features missing from both the third disc and the individual ts1&2 discs themselves compared to R1 AND the awful packaging means that it actually isn't all that 'Ultimate' the only Disney CE i haven't got is the Fantasia Anthology but i'm pretty sure that i'll get it on R1 eventually btw - if you haven't got A Bug's Life CE have a look for it at dvdboxoffice - i got it from there for only 20 quid just after christmas and i think its still at the same price |

also, have you found the little extras on Dinosaur? - i thought the inclusion of outtakes was good - it would have been interesting to know which were done accidentally by the programmer and which were caused by computer glitches
when i got home from uni today i actually turned on the tv and blue peter were showing a bit of the 'gerty the dinosaur' cartoon/archive which is a 'hidden' extra on the dinosaur dvd as well as they were talking about the history of animation - they also showed a bit about cg animation techniques with some UK company and it looked like they were using the same software as is shown on dinosaur (& toy story - i think its called 'renderman' and it was created by pixar) - all of which i found really interesting (the reason i buy these types of dvds!) - i think it would be great if disney put together a dvd of this sort which chronicled the history of their features and animation techniques/archive footage - this is their centenary after all btw (again - get your credit card ready!) - another great dvd of this sort (although not quite as comprehensive as Disney) is Antz: Signature Selection |
